  7. hi all right sorry i obv didnt give enough details b4 its a schaller 571 bridge i think basically its a combonation bridge n it did require 3 degrees neck angle. because this is my first time i made the decision/possible error of making a 3 degree slant on the but of the neck the neck at its deepest point of the butt is 25mm aprox and 22mm aprox at the shallow point of the butt thos measure ments are from the butt to the top of the finger board ... if this is enough information plse help!!! lol im gettin worried now. thnx n rgds

  15. hey all im near to painting my guitar and i now have a problem to tackle. in my piece of mahogany im using for the body there was a few holes, normally id just of whacked any old filler in it and painted it, but the problem is that i am staining my guitar with a translucent red stain. so im a bit stuck the holes are on the sides of the guitar and i dont know what to do with them and how to fill them in, obviously id like it so tht if the holes were filled they are a very similar colour, do i just fill with the closest colour putty i can find or is there another method i cud use to achieve a hard to notice the holes effect. if any one can shed any light on this problem i would be greatful thnx n rgds
  16. lo all again quick question i think .. im makin my guitar first timer! n ive started to route out my neck pocket and so far have routed it out to 5/8" cos thats what i read in a load of places..is this the right depth for a bolt on neck which needs to be angled back 3 degrees and the guitar has a bridge of 15mm high in its lowest position. the neck pocket is str8 n im angling the butt of the neck.. so is 5/8" suitable or does it need to be summat different?? thnx

  18. i know this is a really stupid question but im honestly a bit stuck im making a guitar with a schaller 455 bridge http://www.fenderforum.com/userphotos/inde...html?recid=5493 (is a picture of it) and i dont understand how to work out the height of the bridge is it the height from the bottom to the top of one of the adjustable pieces? if it is i think i measured about 15 mm does that about right?? i know tis a stupid question but apparently its quite vital so i best make double sure. cheers n rgds

  20. hi all just a quick question im planning on staining the mahogony part of the guitar im making and im going to try to achive a transparent red so it looks similar to a gibson sg. iv ordered all the stuff before im ready to use it to save postage costs and i ordered some mahogony grain filler because i had read in a book that mahogony needed a grain filler when painting, when iopened the pot of grain filler its a thick brown colour mixture. If im staining the mahogony do i need to use a grain filler?? if so will this brown mixture stuff dry translucent? the filler i was sent was simoniz red oxide primer which i was told could be used to fill mahogony grain. but im confused as to whether i need it now plse help. thnx
