Hope your build works out well. Ive been going insane on mine time wise ive been taking forever to finish . mainly because I have been saving for a new band saw. That and the fact that I have sent my kahler 8 string bridge back to kahler to have them modify mine so there has been a lot of back and forth shipping dahhh anyways I love the look of your 8 string cant wait to see it finished are you going to post any sound clips?? ... Well I decided to have a fresh start on my 8 string baritone. I now got all my kahler hardware Such as the locking nut and the bridge I have some custom pickups that I ordered from seymour Duncan they are based off there H M live-wire pick ups they were made with a custom voicing and have different windings than there regular H M live-wire so it can pump all the low end that my tuning has without getting muddy and still have all the high gain push that these pickups were made for as soon as im done with this project ill post some sound clips As of now here is my supply list Neck wood: ovengal Finger board: ebony Body sides: ovengal Pups: custom seymour Duncan's active live-wires ( at 18 volts. My preference ) Tuners: ping Frets: stainless steal Finish: tru-oil with wax sealer or ill order the stuff Warwick use for there thumb bass Output jack: flush mount style Strap pins: Dunlop flush mount strap locks Inlay: still debating? Ya the Purpleheart one Is my FAV right now, I just Love Working with purpleheart and I have been trying to build one for awhile now but I never really got around to it. Than I moved and lost my shop so nothing really happend But Im in a new shop now and Ive been seeing So much on 8-strings that I just had to finish a few. As far as almost done Im waiting on a few parts but once there i can really get moveing !!METAL MATT!! cool i cant wait to see it in all its glory shake the earth with it man cus when im done with mine i plane to move the continents lol

Where are all the 8 strings at ive read about them so much but the topics slowly fade out I know there was a lot people out there wanting to make em but whatever happen I hope im not coming across badly but where are they ? As for me I finally got my parts in from kahler ( the locking nut ) so as soon as my carbon fibers and fret board come in from lmii im going to start working I know **** happens so what happen to all of the 8s ? Plus what do the majority of this forum think of the whole extended range instrument topic like 8-9 10 excreta excreta guitar /bass If your making an 8 string or some extended rage monster why what made u want to make one I know everyone who asks me why think its because of mushuga its not I play heavy too but my 8 is not because of them I wanted a thinner string that my baritone 6 couldn’t give me what an 8 has (thinner strings) my 6 was in low F or low G I want to make a 10 or 9 at low c after my 8 because I think it will be fun as hell to play solos for once in thinner strings and still have humugas chords hell yeah but mainly my reason for building one again is my father took and bashed my old one for a noble reason I think Any responds out there ? p.s i think the only one ive seen is the lgms and one made by Canuck Brian those 8 were awsome well peace out

well i got some ovengal/shedua a while back ago and was wondering if anyone has used it for a guitar becuse im planing on using it for my g/f guitar and for mine i know it sounds great for bass since trying out a thumb 6 bass by warwick but has anyone heard a guitar made of it ? i want to get an idea since im waiting on my guitars kahler nut

well yes your right. I will be using the 30 scale as planed because, well my ltd 7 string baritone barely handles the f string and its a 85 string, sustain and attack suck monkey so I thought the 30 scale would help for tension. I also thought about a 28 scale like the ibanez mike mushock baritone, but I figured the low f is not the only string I drop that low. my last try with an 8 had a 27 1/2 scale from lmii but for g tuning using a 75 string, Any lower in that scale I had problems with slack and the like. anyway if the nut is a set 15 radius will a 12 or 16 radius work without problems? thats what I cant figure out thanks 4 the help again peace

well i have gotten alot of help from you all like Prostheta and rhoads56 thanks for the help this build has been slow but i finaly orderd the lock nut for the kahler 8, glad i wont have to wait till the summer. ive had a few changes to my 8 and my g/f 8 i going to make em out of shedua neck threw and the bodys the lock nut cost 66 bucks and is 2.375 or 2 and 3/8 wide with a 15 radius my problem is wer do i get a sloted 15 radius finger board

man i cant wait to see your guitar too you had some crazy woods if i can reamber im going to be e-mailing kahler to see if i can get the nut already a guy who ive been e-mailing back and forth from kahler said all i got to do is let him know when i want it to call in and order it from him so hopefully friday i can do it as for this 8 im going to do it with the shedua that i got wish me luck you guys should cheak out the wamme forum
