  1. sort of. basically this guy got a solid block and then machined it out hollow and bolted a neck onto it. I was interested in this when I first got interested in buying a Gretsch about 8 years ago. Then I seen how cheap the electromatics were. I'm on my 3rd one now that I'm modding to my own specs.More for functionality but also a colour change.
  2. Started life as a Gretsch G5129 Electromatic Hollowbody Firebird Red But will end up a kustom colour with filtertrons and different control layout similiar to the "brian setzer hot rod"
  3. Honestly I have no idea. Originally a friend of mine had just asked me to resolder the neck pickup. It had come loose and sunk in missing a few screws. After I did it and played it for a week I offered to buy it.I think I ended up giving him a 6 pack for it or something really cheap. There was no headstock logo however someone has put a 'les paul' decal on it. The tuners were blank chrome kluson style The pickups were mis matched Ibanez pickups From discussion I think it may have been an Ibanez however not old enough to be a lawsuit era. The body sure as hell sounds mahogonay and has the weight. But i'm no expert in identifying woods. It's sat in the case for close to 2 years now.The clear was just rattlecans and from what I read it's good to let it sit untouched for a while after painting with them... maybe not for that long though. I've ended up just going with some p-100s So i'll post some updates too asap.
  4. oh is this another boutique 'oh look what i've got' amp ?
  5. yeah that was mine.that was the first effort at it i just sprayed it gold over the old black finish but then i decided to strip it and do it properly.
  6. ah cmon guys.i'm curious to see how any of these rattlecan finishes have held up.
  7. Hmm a lot of these threads seem to be a bit old im curious as to see how peoples paintjobs have held up over time so how about posting some pics of guitars you've finished what they look like now and how well they stood the test of time use/abuse. cmon don't be shy
  8. is this for design and technology class? *i have a bach of ed in this*
  9. i was thinking i could dissasemble them and soak it in a solution of something?
  10. i know most of you are used to dealing with fresh new parts but what if you've got an old tuneamatic setup that needs to be cleaned up. whats the best way to clean these up and get rid of the general gunk and griime thats built up on em?
  11. ok i finally got a picture up here. can you see the difference between neck and body? and its not due to camera flash either. going to end up goin with GFS humbucker sized p90's.
  12. cameras on the fritz at the moment 'll post a picture.im sure when i put the clear on it'll come out as 2 different shades i may have to stain the body?
  13. so nearly 3 months later it's all stripped and ready to paint. Neck and body appear to be 2 diferent woods.the body is a much lighter colour than the neck.
  14. man you gotta get that pickup selector down onto the lower bout like a mosrite.thats the total look!
