    Thanks for the info....getting such a glossy finish with a brush on laquer is definately exceptional. Do you still the brush marks or just before sanding/polishing?

    Excellent looking guitar judging by the GOTM shots! I like everything about it: The shape, the stain and the execution! Congrats! Now one question: What is this Rustin plastic coating stuff you used for the clean? Where can I find more info on it? It seems it's easy to use: On the pics before sending the finish looks to be not applied very well....but still it looks GREAT after sanding/polishing!

    How true! There is not a single guitar in there not worthy of winning the gotm. I guess I'll vote for the Les Paul or the bass!

    @Setch: Hey! Im still arround! Just busy with university and my bands! At the time I am mainly focused on playing and recording new Songs for our next album. But I have parts for several guitars and I hope I will find time soon to build them. That Les Paul you posted is REALLY awesome. And that means alot coming from me because Les Pauls are definately anything else than my favorite guitar type. But that one looks so stunning and tempting to play! Excellent work!

    I use IE 6.0 as well, but no I see the page under construction message under "electric". I guess that's how it's supposed to look. Concerning the prices: Will you never ad them to the page? It's great to know that we will get a discount, but a starting price would be nice. Usually the price determines if you are interested in a guitar or not....hehe

    Hmm....the homepage is not really wokring. The cataloge is ok, but if you click on electric or acoustic there is just a logo showing up and I cannot find prices anywhere on the site. The guitars look nice though.....

    I only be fretwire in rolls. That means it's already pre-radiused to a radius that is usually tighter that what I need. Which is no problem. I just press the frets in and then they get their deisred radius. This works perfectly with a tighter radius but not with a bigger....

    Ok! I think you modeled ot after the picture of the yellow one. But that picture looks a little distorted. The red one looks way more balanced I think.

    The guitar is way to fat in my opinion. It is nearly as wide as it is high. It will be to heavy and uncomfortable I think. I recommend making it thinner.

    True. I was to cowardly as well and added the volute. However I feel that with Bubinga/Wenge strips the volute is not necessary. That stuff is so damn tough that you can barely break the bubinga laminates alone. Additionally I never dropped a guitar and I don't plan to do so....hehe....But it definately makes the neck even tougher and that's certainly not bad thing as long as it does not look bad, which you managed to avoid with great success.

    @RGGR: You were definately right that your first pictures made the volute look badly executed. But now that you improved it still looks better although it was flawless before. That said I am no big fan of volutes at all. I did a little one on my seven string, but I still think it was not necessary. For necks that are laminated with bubinga/wenge strips the volute is not needed I think....at least the bubinga stripes I used were so damn though I doubt they could ever break.

    Looks really good except for the volute. I know the problem very well: It is quite hard to get a clean transition from the neck contour into the volute. In your case it looks as if their is a little "valley" between the neck and the volute. Very hard to get the volute to just rise out of the neck shape without having that deeper spot in between....but I think you can still improve that! I succeded in the end to....hehe

    Don't know how you are able to read that into his lines. I think what he did is the following according to his last post: He build a usually fingerboard and inserted the frets. Then he routed down the areas between the frets and inserted the metal plates. Just like common inlays, only that the inlay is made of metal and fills the whole space between frets.

    And how did you instert the frets? Usually the fret tang is not much longer then 3-5 mm....

    Looks cool but I bet it will be a paint to play. Due to the reverse shape the arm rest area ends much to early.

    Pffff....That bass is awesome looking. And you custom built it down to the pu's. I would have voted for it if I was a bass player. The finish is spectacular. The pu color does not really match the finish that's true, but in other months you could have easily won with that bass. Congrats!

    Wow....this was hard. In terms of look and craftmanship I was unable to pick a winner because they all deserve to win in this department. Because of that I voted for the guitar I would love to play/own the most. And this is the PRS style guitar. The doubleneck is VERY impressive as well, but to me doubleneck guitars are quite worthless: I don't need a 12 string and I would never want to play a guitar that heavy and huge.

    Recording bass with a mic is no good idea at all in my opinion. Usually a good bass amp has a line out that sounds way better then miking it. And even if that's not the case I would rather play direct in the mixing desk. Getting a great bass sound with a mic is only possible with mics designed for kick drums or bass. Using a SM57 like many recommend will work live but will not sound nearly as good as a bass mic or a line out or direct. There is a reason for bass mics. The SM57 is not made for that purpose and does not pick up the low end very well.

    Great to see that you decided to follow my and other's advice and stained/painted the headstock! Looks way better. Just well rounded and complete and not with that touch of "in progress" it had with the unstained headstock. I really like that guitar.
