  1. Well here's the swirl on the Jem Body. Definately not as vibrant as my first test, but the paint spread much more and it looks very clean. http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u285/Gu...0b/P1010231.jpg And here's the disapearing pyramid inlays in the fretboard, attatched to the neck. I have some sanding ahead of me. http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u285/Gu...0b/P1010239.jpg
  2. Update! well as of late I have finished the Ibanez Jem Body and Painted it yellow. I even started cutting out the neck. Here are the pictures: http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u285/Gu...0b/P1010195.jpg http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u285/Gu...0b/P1010222.jpg here's how they look! http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u285/Gu...0b/P1010206.jpg
  3. Hey all.....it has been a while. Well In the past month or so I really took up My Ibanez Jem project. I Cut the Body With a CnC machine with great results. I am using poplar at the moment (didnt have time to glue up the alder). Here are some Pics: I plan to do a swirl paintjob and I have been experimenting for a while with paints. Here are the fruits of my labor: -Started with a beat to **** rg body and sprayed it gloss yellow with spray enamel http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u285/Gu.../Picture081.jpg Then I Just jumped in and Dipped....Heres how she turned out http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u285/Gu.../Picture088.jpg The swirl is much more vibrant in person! Let me know what you think.
  4. Enamel Paints have been recommended to me more than any other paint, and it is also oil based so I get the best of both worlds. It also cures very well. But only practice dips will tell.
  5. Well, My Ibanez Jem project is coming along and all planned out. I have decided on trying to do a Swirl paint job, as they look so unique. So far I have everything I need to test with: Cut and primed 2x4's for test dips: http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w139/on...rl/P1011392.jpg Enamel Oil Based Paints ( Red, Green, Pink/Maroon, Black, and still waiting on Yellow) http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w139/on...rl/P1011393.jpg Reeve's Oil Paints (many colors) http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w139/on...rl/P1011395.jpg And of course some Borax and a bucket to test dip the 2x4's http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w139/on...rl/P1011394.jpg Depending on how thick the enamel oil paint is, I will use paint thinner (mineral spirits). I will be clear coating with poly urethane. First I will be test dipping the 2x4's (about 8 of them). Next I will move onto a crappy Mark II strat body (not even the size of a strat ). Next, I will move onto a Ibanez Rg-ish body, and finally dip my Jem Body. I will of course post pics along the way, and if anyone has any advice, that would be great!
  6. I love the feel on my fender showmaster neck. Anyone know which fretwire would be used on this guitar?
  7. I have been looking over the web and it seems 6105 fretwire is pretty standard. I am looking at Stew Mac and they have many different frets (none with the name 6105). Which fretwire should I get? And can you please explain why the fretwire choosen (your preference) is the bes. Thanks!
  8. humbrol enamel paints...try them and let me know!
  9. I used the search And continue to read Humbrol enamel paints.
  10. Can anyone help me with the question I posted in the above comment?
  11. Hey, I will be attempting a swirl paint job soon and had a couple questions. First off, what is the best paint to use to get the most vibrant colors. I'm talking about the DNA or PMC swirls done for ibanez a while back. The tutorial on the site is great, but if you look the colors are dull. Anyone have experience with cool results? please post your pictures, tell of your methods, and the paints you used. Thanks!
  12. My budy honestly has one of these guitars in a purple burst. Maybe I can get the dimensions for you. For clarification do you mean the guitar that has a bunch of stars on the body, or a guitar that is extremely pointy (looks like a star).
