hello. i am rebuilding a guitar and right now im trying to get the electronics to work. heres the parts im using: a bridge and a middle pickup from a strat copy a toggle switch ala les paul a 500k voulme pot (yes, i know its too much, but i just want to test play the guitar) an output jack ive used the schematic described here: http://www.seymourduncan.com/website/suppo...vol_1switc.html but applied it on a toggle switch instead. im pretty sure ive done everything the right way. today i was trying it out by placing the pickguard everything is mounted at close to the strings of another of my guitars. but there were no signal! another strange thing i noticed was that the volume pot worked quite odd. when on zero, nothing unusual happend. as i turned it up the intensity of hum grew. but when i started to reach the maximum, it became quiet again! any help would be greatly appreciated!!! thanks

i think it would be awsome! the guitar looks really great and it seems like a bargain. i would have bought one at the moment if i had the money! thanks for the tip! it is indeed possible. if you know what youre doing i dont see any reason why it wouldnt work. it will probably turn out great!

ok, thanks alot everyone! and, Brian, this is not just my first time with whatever finnish i will use, its my first time ever! so the conclusion is that any pain will work, if i just put down some work on it (sanding etc.). im thinking about using a primer, then a paint and maybe some clear (inculding the sanding in between ofcourse), all of them made for cars (i guess that makes them automotive?). would that work great? if yes it would be really handy since i could get some cheap and easy (in cans..).

ok, so now ive sanded my strat-style bolt-on neck ready for oiling and painting on the headstock. heres the question, which should i start with? painting headstock or oil the rest (yes everything else on it.)?

wrong, they use another low string. F# to E that is. then they tune down one half step as well, so its F to Eb really. listen to their last cd Nothing. that's the only one of their cds with 8 str. hence, many of the songs are i F. merry christmas and happy new year!!

hello, i found the tutorial about painting the headstock but now i have some questions. what preparations should i do (sanding of lacquer etc.)?? what lacquer/paint should i use? should i use some kind of sealer? an in-depth explanation(or link) would be appreciated.

yes, i have the same feeling about using the sander. its probaly good with rough wood though. i think i will make myself some radiused sanding blocks!

ok, thanks alot everyone! yes youre both right, 90° angle. Southpa: a very good method. but what glue should i use? because i would want to easily switch the sandpaper. daveg: probably great for concave areas, but for convex? yes i found that picture and thanks for the tip, its a very informative site!! well i dont have drill press at home so i cant use that method. i have a belt sander so i think i will use the method described at the site. or maybe the one Southpa described. i have not yet descided. i will post many futher questions about this project so, beware! thanks alot again.

hello! im a new member but im not that new to this forum. ive been learning alot but now im doing this guitar rebuilding project and i need a little help so i thought id register. the guitar im rebuilding is a strat copy and im aming for something more like an ibanez rg style (everyones favorite right? ). here is the thing: ive stripped the body and sawn it to a shape somewhat like an ibanez rg. now im sanding up the finnish for the paint/lacquer(sp?) and now i reached the sides of the body. i find it very hard to make it a right angle and also totally plane. what technique/tools do you use?? i hope you understand what im trying to put across. and yes, this is my first attempt ever to build/rebuilt a guitar! any help would be appreciated!
