  1. I use a Digitech 2112 into a Mesa Boogie 50/50 tube amp, i like the fact that it seems to sound better loud and how it responds to your fingers is pleasing. Just sounds better then anything i've ever used before.
  2. I put brass on two of my guitars and like it very well.
  3. I was going to start a new topic for my question but looks like it fits in here... You guys have talked about some nice pre-amp units in here so please don't laugh at what i'm using but I have this Digitech Valve FX that I do really like and have set just so, but I also picked up this Digitech 2112 from a friend and like the end result of my programing efforts on it but I can't seem to get the control 1 to work worth a crap on the 2112 and the book has been no help at all. Am I loosing it or just missing something really simple here? I've never learned how to use MIDI worth a crap and have not seen any information that explains how it works. You guys know of any information that may get me out of the dark ages here?
  4. Looks to me like someone in the front row farted and she can hardly stand it!
  5. Leave the pick gaurd off! That would be a crime to cover that grain any more then needed, that looks beautiful! Looks like the ocean floor from space! I've always wondered what a walnut guitar would sound like and that first pic at top really makes me wonder, what you opinions? I always thought it woild have to be tight and heavy sounding. ????
  6. Ah the tube or solid state deal, i have found it hard to use a tube amp in the studio because they just sound better loud IMO they seem breath better and oversaturation is an issue with the condenser. So i use solid state where lower volume is needed and the tube amp for pleasure playing and jamming with the boys. But I like the tube amp the most. I have recorded with the tube amp with the mic farther away and got good sound but the mic placement has got to be just right and tends to be touchy.
  7. Well i did some reading on several kinds of pickups including the EMGs and from what I read i went with the Dimarzios although they all sounded tempting. And the guy that's helping me with this project has and older guitar that has Dimarzios in it, old ones, and the thing cooks so from what limited info i had i went with it. And it's too late to change now unless it's not what i want when it's done then I may change pickups in it but the info sounds like this will work good....we'll see i guess. This is the first time we've done a guitar and we're both liking it so much we've been hitting the pawn shops looking for another victom! hahaha
  8. In the studio I use a little solid state thing with a valve preamp into that (single 12), but for pleasure i use a valve preamp into a Mesa Boogie 50/50 tube amp which has way biger balls (four 12's). This guitar will be used on both setups.
  9. I'm only doing my very first rebuild including paiting on an old guitar of mine and I got ahold of a friend of mine that has painted many cars and has all the stuff to do it, I think that is the only way to get a good paint job is to pay the cashish and use good car paint. We've layed down two good coats of dupont primer, sanded it with i think 1500 or 2000 grit and then layed down two bass coats of the bass color then cleared it and it looked great. However we planed on sanding the clear at that point to take out a couple specs of dust but have found that we have to start all over because of a seam that showed up after it sat for a while. But up to that point the pait job looked like it did when i bought the thing, paint it like you'd paint a car.
  10. Thank you gentelmen for your input. I ended up sending them back to get the F-size anyway, it would have bugged the crap out of me if i hadn't. There's time I have a visible seam on the top so I have to sand the damn thing down again anyway. This is the first rebuild I've ever done and I want it to be right.
  11. I just reshaped a BC Rich copy and ordered some Damarzio 158 & 159's those Steve V. things and I had no clue about the "F-size or Regular-size" until after I ordered the things and now I find that my bridge is the wide style (2.1") which should have the F-size which I did not order!? Have any of you really noticed a difference in the sound between the two on such a set-up? I can always send them back and exchange but if there's no need I'd rather not, what are your thoughts guys?
