Making my first guitar, started a few weeks ago, it's a jaguar model with matching electronics to Cobain's jag. This is a little embarrassing and probably dumb but I've got absolutely zero experience soldering or doing anything with circuitry and I've decided to do electronics on my own. I'm following a really detailed diagram so most of it shouldn't be too hard. I've just got a couple questions. On the bridge pickup it has a wire that says "ground lug to control cavity" then on the same wire, "black wire to bridge" and I'm not sure what that means and can't find much about it online. Then on then neck pickup it's got 3 wires coming out of it, two soldered to eachother and the other goes to the bracket that holds the electronics for the rhythm circuit (mind you not on the electronics but on the bracket holding the electronics), on the other end of the bracket, there's a cap that connects to one of the pots. Am I reading the diagram correctly? Thanks, please advise.

Hi guys, so I have never built a guitar before but I decided to give it ago. I bought some parts off eBay. Amongst the stuff were two Fender Wide Range Humbuckers (reissue) and a fully loaded HH scratch plate from a brand new Squier Contemporary. Will these two be compatible? Apart from widening the pickup holes and drilling two new wholes for mounting as the Wide Range Humbucker is 4 post mounted. Will it be as easy as unsoldering the Humbuckers off the plate and soldering the Wide Rang Humbuckers back in the same places? I have no knowledge of any of this but I am excited to learn. I know these WR Humbuckers are second hand so I have to test them. This will involve a multimeter. Any tips on testing and soldering procedures would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Folks! First post! Had to start somewhere! Mutant strat project.. Not sure if this is possible, but can I wire two humbuckers to an LP style 3 way switch, then to a single push/pull coil split vol/tone pot? Is there someplace online one might find a schematic - I've looking for sometime, but not really turning anything up.. I'm thinking I may need a few mini toggle switches to pull it off, but still not sure with the LP style 3 way toggle.. Thoughts? Thank you very much!

I just finished installing the Stew Mac Parsons street PAF's in my old Epiphone Sheraton ii. I also put in a harness from BCS guitar with the Bournes mini pots. (I was too lazy to make my own.) The quality of the harness is top notch: great soldering and I like the schematic and mods they used rather than many I've seen on the internet. The pickups are AMAZING! Turned the guitar into an ES-335. They sound like PAF's and fully bring out the semi-hollow sound. They are very clear - almost too clear and deliver a lot of "punch". I found I needed to tone done the brightness on both pickups to get the sound I wanted. I found in playing with distortion the pickups do not require very much to give them the "growl". I used the Alnico 5 in the neck and the Al 2 in the bridge. The only downside is that the al 2 doesn't have quite as much output. Possibly a soldering issue? I'm not willing to disassemble the setup at this time to figure that out ( you know what its like to install an ES-335 harness!) Based on this experience I may try their Tele pickups for my build. I bought the PAF's with the gold covers. Excellent deal for $118! One other issue: Go to the Stew Mac home page first before going to the Parsons Street page. For some reason if you go directly to the pickups page from your search engine, the pups are $148 for the set!
