Hey all! I picked up a Randall R412JT recently and want to give it some new life as its in pretty rough shape. I really like the metal grill look instead of the stretched mesh it has currently. Does anyone know where I can buy some of this material? (reference pic attached of what I want). And if so, any tips on attaching it? Thanks!

So i was at guitar store yesterday again before the weekend and ran into someone there to buy strings and a new tuner, so anyway we were talking about pedals and i told i had just gotten a shaky jimi univibe, and i'm still trying to dial in the right sound and setting for it and it sounds very lo-fi and all and he said "ah the univibe, your better off with just the phase 90 in your chain man, the Phase 90 is the successful version of what the Univibe failed to be far as phasing goes. Only reason some people today have it in their chain is because of hendrix and trower and the style music they play" then he asked what i play so i said "80-90s bay area thrash style and 80-90s oldschool florida death metal style" n he goes "yeah you dont need the univibe man, instead just throw a chorus in your chain it sounds much better than a univibe". I don't know what this guy's issue is with univibes but he clearly seemed to really hate them for some reason.

Finally got one of my dream guitars ive wanted for years. The Jackson Warrior JS32 and am now at 6 guitars.

Its factory setup for E standard. I want to tune it down a half step to D# however this floyd bridges behaving differently than my edge 3 on my RG370DX for some reason. The string gauge as u all know is 9-42 factory set for E tuning. Is that string gauge enough for me to even tune down and intonate a half step for D#?

So i recently got my guitar's wraparound bridge shimmed because it was angled diagonally down into the guitar body so it needed to be shimmed.

However, i noticed with the low action to where it was before and wasn't buzzing, now its buzzing at the same string action height which is obivously because the angle of the saddles isnt facing down diagonally but are now flush with the guitar body with the bridge because of the shim.

I've noticed also when i do powerchords or single notes it would buzz from 6th to 12th and lil over the 12th fret on the frets so i raised the string action and now the buzz has reduced but still buzzes around 10th to 12th fret, does that mean i need to add lil more relief on the truss rod ? Because the string action is 6/64ths on the low e and 4/64ths on the high e, and i dont want to raise it any higher than that. I'd prefer to keep it at my original 4/64ths and 3/64ths high and low e. All my frets are also level i checked and the nut is also not the issue checked that too.

This is a question for the science of restringing a 6 inline tuner headstock not a 3x3 headstock.

When restringing the higher (treble) strings aka 1,2,3 strings or G,B,E strings whichever you prefer to call them, why is there lesser slack required on those strings considering their tuning pegs are more out away from the guitar on the headstock ?

Example if i do lets say 2 tuners n back for slack on the E,A,D strings why is it lesser for G,B,E to down to slightly less than 2 pegs or bit more to get those 3-4 windings considering their pegs are more out away from the saddle on the headstock ? whats the science there?

Keep in mind i dont follow the 1 fret back thing i use the 2 pegs ahead and back to peg for slack method,
I decided to try a compressor sustainer pedal, i dont see or hear much of a difference from this pedal than my GE7 or 10 band EQ pedal, they both just raise the frequencies and make em louder only difference is this compressor sustainer pedal is really noisy (without NS2). Wouldn't it be much better just using the 7 or 10 band EQs and get the same result of heightened frequencies? I know its not used at all in oldschool florida dm and bay area thrash metal which are my core styles of playing but i just got it out of curiosity and honestly cant hear or tell how its different than my EQ pedals when both do the same thing.

Morbid Angel.

Okay so i look quite often on equipboard and uberproaudio even though its not the most reliant of sites but its something to go on lol. One thing i've noticed from the Death/Thrash metal guitarists i see on there are many of them use a Decimator 1 or 2 or NS2 or another form of a noise/gate suppressor pedal. Even Pat o'Brien of Cannibal Corpse uses a Decimator 2 and they play at a ridiculously high level of gain and volume. So i was looking at Trey Azagthoth's setup and he has no noise gate/suppressor pedal at all (Not a NS2 or Decimator or anything at all) which i found weird given how loud he sets his amps and pedals and gear, He does have a studio equipment rack processor of some sort though that provides also compression and a built-in noise gate but thats only when he's recording tracks in the studio, and when playing live he never uses a noise gate/suppressor pedal either but he uses a mute box of some sort that kills the signal instantly between songs and switching guitars. Why not just use a noise gate/suppressor in general and its not even part of his main rig, pedals or setup even in interviews it's never ever mentioned. I think Zakk Wylde also never ever used noise gates but only started doing so when he joined the revived Pantera lineup to real dial in Dimebag's (R.I.P) tone. When Trey isn't using a Noise gate/Supressor pedal outside of recording studio, isn't it hard for him to play and rehearse to cut through in the mix with the band with all that possible feedback and unwanted noise? Even when he's playing live WITHOUT a noise gate/suppressor, how is he cutting through the mix live without all the feedback and unwanted noise? Because that Mutebox thing of his only is effective when its pressed to kill the signal entirely when switching guitars or between songs. How is he not getting all that noise while playing Live?

So i've decided to giveup on and let go of my Joyo JF11 EQ as i have no interest in having send me another one back and risk having the same issue with the pedal. So i've decided to just get another and im stuck with 2 choices now.

Caline CP-71 6 band EQ which has the volume slider while the JOYO doesn't or Behringer EQ700 (Boss GE-7 Clone). Which one would you guys pick ? @curtisa @henrim @Bizman62 The Caline so far i haven't seen any negative reviews on it, and it has the volume slider too where the JOYO failed me at along with its unsolveable issues. The EQ700 Behringer is a 7 band EQ as its a clone of the GE-7. Is 6 bands enough for oldschool deathmetal ? or is 7 better? I've incorporated a new style into my playing too so instead of just Bay area/California Thrash influenced and core Oldschool Florida deathmetal influenced i have now also added Oldschool first wave Swedish (Stockholm) deathmetal also to my playing style like Entombed, Dismember, Carnage, Grave etc etc. So is a 6 or 7 band eq enough for those styles or does it require more frequencies ?

So i've tried a EQ 7 and 10 band after the RAT but it doesn't seem to do a good job boosting the RAT's mids and highs range for solos, but if i take it out and put a OD TS808 before the RAT it sounds so much better and higher and normal. Why is that? I know TS808 boosts the mids but i have my EQ pedals also set like that with the midhump. Now if i use ALL 3 in the chain with the OD > RAT > EQ it sounds like a big muddled mess of fuzz going on with the distortion. Why does the OD seem to bring out the best in the RAT than a EQ ?

The way i've always done it is like this > Power off amp then moving leftt to right i unplug the power 9v adapter from my Delay and MT2/RAT+OD whichever of those two is in the chain, then keep moving towards the right removing the output side first then the input till i reach the end which is the beginning of the chain and finally remove the input last on that then remove the cable from my guitar.

IS that the right way to avoid risking damage to the pedals ?

Does Trey Azagthoth play his RAT into EQ into amp on dirty channel ? I find it hard to believe he gets all that power and all behind the RAT on a clean channel because i've tried with the clone and it sounds really bad. I know Obituary played RAT into dirty Marshalls. I can't find any info on this online on which channel he uses from his Marshall JCM's.

The overdrive Channel (Red) is where the RAT even the JOYO Splinter pedal excels even without a EQ pedal or booster. However i'd imagine on the clean channel (green) you would need a boost or EQ for it to push it further. But the OD dirty channel seems to be where the RAT and it's clones really excel and shine with the volume and gain turned up. I think it's because on a clean Channel you only have the Volume and the 3 band EQ and Reverb and at times Presence and the RAT only has Distortion, filter and volume, but with the OD channel you get all that and most important the GAIN which isnt on the RAT or Clean channel.

So im wondering if Trey Azagthoth of Morbid Angel also plays through the Dirty Channel (Overdrive/Red) to use his RAT and EQ properly. Anyone know?

This popped up on my MSN feed today (probably because they'd been snooping on me listening to "A Million Miles Away" on Youtube...), Donal Gallagher has decided to sell his older brother's legendary battered Strat -https://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertainment/music/rory-gallagher-s-iconic-61-fender-stratocaster-is-heading-to-auction-for-the-first-time-ever/ar-BB1pBIoq#image=4

I can't help but feel a little sad about this, given how much it's likely to go for I doubt it will end up in the hands of someone who'll play it like it should be played, or be willing to lend it to the Band of Friends for the annual Roryfest.

I know bands use EQ and boost pedals for live gigs and playing with band to cut through mix and all but with that being said it almost seems pointless to use one for bedroom jamming, I know some use it as.a tone shaper, but theres other ways to shape your tone like with a MT2 which has a 3 band parametric EQ on it, a the EQs on your amp and all over the place even your guitar knobs. Point being boost and eq pedals seem more suited for live gigging and playing with a band to cut through the mix mainly than jamming in your bedroom or around your house lol. Is that correct?

So i got my Joyo Splinter in today and heard from many, even RAT experienced users that it apparently sounds like this. No matter how i set the Distortion/Filter/Volume knobs it sounds great for rhythms but very bad for leadwork infact could say it sounds like the tone sounds like the neck pickup, when im on the bridge pickup and doesn't have enough sustain for vibratos n bends and all that for solos. Is it meant to be played on the dirty channel(overdrive) on the amp and not clean channel? I put the MT2 after it as a boost EQ and it improved alot but it sounded a bit too much like the MT2 and less like the RAT. Is this pedal meant to be played on dirty overdrive channel on the amp and not clean channel ? I've heard the ProCo Rat 2 and Fat RAT also have this similiar tone issue, i wonder how people make this RAT pedal or in my case the JOYO Splinter sound so good and bright and sustained specially for solos?

Hello everyone! I am a guitarist who is also in a year 3 high school engineering class. We are currently developing a product that has to do with the process of tuning a guitar. If you could complete this 3-5 minute survey, it could really benefit our product. Thank you!
