The Tuxedo DESCRIPTION: This is build #6 for me. Frequently I look at other builder's amazing projects and think "how will I ever get there?" So with that goal in mind, and for each build, I do my best to add elements that will push me beyond my comfort zone. For this build, there were two such milestones for me - first time doing a radius top with a radius back, and first multi-piece neck. This guitar has a lot of similarities to my prior radius top Strats, so in some sense I feel a little disappointed that I didn't push far enough beyond that. On the bright side, I'm starting to see little glimpses of my own style when I look at it. That style is, of course, a reflection of all I have learned from folks here, so thank you all for that! MATERIALS: Body is two piece northern ash sourced from Peterman Lumber (local) Neck is three piece - flamed maple/wenge/flamed maple, also from Peterman Top and headstock overlay are quilted maple sourced from Elmwood Music on Etsy Fretboard is ebony sourced from Alleng Guitar (online) Inlays are from ebay user jnnpearlinlay HARDWARE: Frets Jescar wide / low Gotoh Auto Locking vintage tuners Trem King Tremolo Graphtech Nut SPECS: 10 deg headstock angle 24 3/4" scale length 1 11/16 Nut Width, .78" thick at the first, .81" at the 12th 12" Radius Fret board 30" Radius Top and Back, 1 1/2" body thickness with 2 1/8" overall thickness Body is semi hollow, 7lbs 2oz weight ELECTRONICS: Seymour Duncan Vintage Stack Bridge Bootstrap Pickups "Squeaky Clean" Neck Oak Grigsby 4-way switch Bourns pots Electrosocket jack Build thread: Video demo:

Purple Haze This is my third working guitar, it’s definitely the best one so far. I would say it’s heavily based on a Jackson dinky with some inspiration from ESP. This build had a lot of firsts for me: First time Maple walnut laminate neck First time binding and my own laminate binding at that First time doing inlays First time adding a top First time staining anything Certainly a learning experience but very, very pleased with the results. Specs: Flamed maple top with limba body Flamed maple with walnut laminate neck Maple and walnut laminate bound ebony fretboard with abalone acrylic inlays 14” radius neck with jumbo frets Gotoh tuners Original Floyd Rose with some upgrades such as a brass trem claw (for looks not sound), fat brass block and turbo arm. Emg Het Set pickups And a couple of video clips put together very rushed to show the dirty and clean sounds. Please pass no remarks on the playing! Or the weird faces I make when playing ...didn’t realise I did that till now https://youtu.be/awuYWO38V1U https://youtu.be/ZHkQYJyWoW8

Ratesz - 'Dark Thunderbird' Hello! Some friends from otehr guitar builder groups motivated me to nominate my 2nd build to this competition. The build was completed some days ago, some stickers are still missing but I believe it is good enough to premiere. Because this is only my second build, I used relatively inexpensive hardware and wood. • Thunderbird design • Basswood body • Maple neck • Rosewood fingerboard • Black hardware • Paint: Crimson Guitar stains • Oil finish: Crimson Guitar High Build Guitar Oil Regards, Ratesz ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mistermikev - 'The Broadchaser' WOODS: Two piece northern white ash body sourced locally from Peterman Lumber in Phoenix Flamed maple fretboard (thanks to JB Land @ 6_strings_plus on evilbay!) Flamed maple neck sourced locally from Peterman Lumber in Phoenix HARDWARE: Bridge - Gotoh BSTC1 compensated saddle Tuners - Gotoh SD91 Pickups - Rose Alba / Bourban + hidden rail humbucker Controls - CTS volume pot + Alpha 4 pole 3 throw rotary + Alpha 3 way selector Bone Nut PROFILE: a somewhat beefy 59 soft v with extremely rolled edges on the fretboard SCALE LENGTH: 25.5" RADIUS: 9.5" FRETS: 21 frets - jescar thin / tall WEIGHT: 7lbs 6.5oz MARKERS: Black dots FINISH: Body - mohawk blonde nitro + watco nitro clear - relic'd Neck - stew mac amber dye + watco nitro clear - relic'd As with all my builds... the motivation is to learn something, challenge myself a bit, and most importantly, have fun. This build was definitely not without it's struggles! I had never done a relic finish before and had my doubts of whether or not I'd ever get there, as I was trying to get the lacquer to check! I had uncertanty of how I would get the color I wanted with my limited abilities/resources. As usual., thanks to a little help from my friends, I survived! Thanks again to all who offered advice/resources/links/commiserations/responses to my threads! I have always wanted a solid body Tele in the classic 'butterscotch blonde' motif. The idea that came to mind was a relic that was impossibly well cared for. I have always loved the look of lacquer checking and wanted to use that more as a finish enhancement as opposed to implying that this was a really old guitar. I chose all flamed maple for the neck, knowing that you wouldn't really see that on a late 50s Tele (nor a two piece neck - no rules here!). Electronics that allow for classic operation, but offer some modern hum-canceling features via a hidden pickup. It is fitted with a dual action truss rod but with traditional heel access. A solid tele body, but with a smuggler's route for weight reduction. All in all a mix that I had hoped would be a nod to the past with a few modern flares. Thanks again to the forum for empowering/encouraging/enabling! BUILD THREAD: Click here to see my build thread for this guitar DEMO VIDEO:
