  1. They look awesome. I cant wait to get back into building. All of the drawings I do, if I am using someone else design, I take a picture import into Autocad and then throw my twists into it so the design is how I want it. In particular for these templates, I took the Jackson Soloist as a base, set it up for 24 3/4 Gibson Scale, set neck, my electronics layout, and a semi AANJ.

  2. From my past experience, glue purple heart as normal, dont wipe it with anything. Titebond 1 works great and Ive never had any problems with joints coming undone. As far as finish and grain filling: grain fill with epoxy, dont bother staining, and dont use minwax poly. One guitar I made I sprayed with component poly and its still great, nice bright purple and all. The other guitar I have I wiped on Minwax Gloss poly and its turning brown and the finish is cracking from shrinking.

  3. Hoenestly I think you need to stop listening to what Ed Roman has to say. JK. You have a Dual Rectifier which screams heavy metal. I can play my showmaster Strat through my Single Recto and get a badass metal tone out of it. As far as a properly set up guitar, it can be properly set up with 10s or 12s or 13s and will still sound the same. If you really want an adjustment to your tone change out your pickups for a higher output pickup like a set of Duncan JBs or Distortions or a set of EMGs.

  4. Ive played with my guitar tuned down 2 full steps which would be C i believe. Guitar was a gibson flying V 98 one of the newer style ones. Anyways I used my regular string set up, 10 46 daddarios and had no problem whatsoever. Would it have been better if I put 11s or 12s on, sure but my guitar is set up for 10s. Honestly stick with a normal gauge like 10s and get/make another guitar to set up for low tunnings. Plus you wouldnt want to ruin an amazing guitar like that.

  6. Im currently in the process of making 3 set neck korina 59 flying V's. As of right now either all of them will be clear with black pickguard or one will be black with a black pickguard. Those two combos are by far my favorite. I did make a 59 outta purple heart with a black pickguard that I think looks pretty damn good. But utimately I think the clear finish is the best without a doubt.

  7. you really cant generalize on wood because every piece is going to sound different even if one piece is harder then another. Generally hard maple vs soft maple the hard maple will sound brighter. Spalted maple is a different story altogether. It is completely dependent on how much of the wood is rotted away. The more it is rotted the more sponge like it is going to be. Thats why generally spalted maple tops are rather thin. Im currently working on a couple spalted maple top guitars, one is on a mahogany back. The top is still fairly together but is only around 1/4" think so it will not affect the tone that much. On the other hand the guitar will have a 3 piece maple neck and highout put pickups which will help with the excess warmth of the mahogany.
