  1. Curt over at The Guitar Station called me Friday to come and get my guitar. He wired it up and set the Floyd and put some new Dean Markley Super V strings on it. It sounds amazing!! And, it plays really nice, too! Thanks Curt and Jim for completing my project! You guys rock! And Thanks to Spazzyone for the G.L. wiring schematic...it came in handy for Curt.

  2. I appreciate all of the great advice and compliments from you all. Thanks!

But, it's almost done. No more sanding for me.

Just gotta get wiring done and strings put on.

I love how it's not "perfect."

It has a feel to it like it's worn, yet not.

When you rub your fingers over the stripes, you can feel them.

You can also see scratch lines under the finish, yet

the paint and stripes cover them.

If I do anymore lacquer, you won't.

It's all a matter of taste.

  3. Looks like a nice finish to me. I really dig the red metal flake. Thumbs up !

Thanks! Actually, it's more orange in color, than red.

Here's an updated photo with a new knob, and pickup rings.

The metal flakes are what give it a cool sparklely shine.

The paint is called," Burnt Copper." And, It's in the "Metal Flakes" spray line made by Duplicolor. It can be purchased at Pep Boys or from Duplicolor paints online. I used only one

can with about 4 coats. Plus, I used Duplicolor clear lacquer to coat the paint.

I went today to get an estimate on wiring the pickups, push/pull pot, and jack.

Plus, string and tune it up with the Floyd Rose tremelo.

Hopefully, the owner won't charge me more than $100. for the soldering work.

  4. It's a StarPower Guitar kit, and Ionly paid $110 + $20 shipping for it.

It came built all together when I got it. Then took it all apart to paint it.

I used 2 Bengal masking kits for the front and back.

Thanks for your wiring advice. I'll look into that on SD website.

    It's a HotRails for strat.

I'll Pm A mod about it when I get a chance. Where should this topic go?

    Thanks,

    Doug

  5. Sorry, I'm new here. :D

I haven't played it as of yet. It has a Duncan JB in bridge, & a Duncan HotRails in the neck.

I want to wire it myself, but have never done it before. Any advice?

It has 1 volume knob, but I replaced it with a 500K push/ pull potentiometer, to get full use of both pickups individually.

How do I move this to the proper section?

    Doug
