  1. i had the same experiance with a song. my girlfriend brought up "every breath you take" by the police, and talked about it in a very suggestive mannor.. so i decided i should learn it for her (rather she subtly told me to learn it for her). anyways, i didnt want to waste any time trying to obtain a copy of the song, and deciphering it, so i turned to a tab *gag* for its obvious speed. ive never tried to stretch my fingers so far in my life. a spread that puts five frets between your fingers is not natural, although i was able to almost pull it off nicely. i was getting worried when i could feel the carpel tunnel sink in after not having problems with it since i started.

so thats when i said to myself "thats it! im going to create my own way to play it". so i took the time to find the song, and decipher it, and i realized that people who tab things are stupid.

i learned the song the good riteous way, and it REALLY payed off :D

  2. i put semi-talented. when i learn the theory of any kind of aspect, i can become skilled at whatever it is within a week. now i dont master it, but i do get pretty good. if i dont understand what im doing, then i cant get it at all... like scales and improv.. it confuses the hell out of me, nobody can give me a good lesson to clarify just what has to happen. so i cant solo at all. though as soon as i understand it a little, ill become at least somewhat good. chordes was explained to me well, and im pretty good with it, good enough to make a country song or decipher some country, or whatever kind of emo style music im more prone to listening to. emo and chordes make good mixes =D plus my girlfriend loves me for it. your all like "yea yea chordes, anyone can chorde their way out of a paper bag", but obviously im not going to talk in excessive amounts on all my skills and weaknesses like ive been doing! i think ill stress the weakness part... solo, shredding, and funk all seem to kill me. funk? yea, somethin about what i do when i try to funk out makes it suck. strength... chordes, following a bass with chordes and movable chordes? i call em power chordes, riffs, timings, finger pickin (like "every breath you take", "classical gas", "blackbird", "good ridance"), uhh... keepin a rhythm in a nutshell.

EDIT: ill mention that ive only been around playing music for 10 months.. before that i never had a lick of music in my life other than the cd's i owned and didnt understand.

  3. wow, lots of organized players heh. me and my acoustic hit the streets with two buddies and we just play. most of the time the bass player will make a simple progression, ill make up some chordes to follow, and the third guy freestyles some lyrics. sometimes its good, sometimes its bad, sometimes people throw money at us trying to get us to stop. its just a fun thing, we usually take the money and get some food after.

  4. but if you can play music its all made up for. ladies love ya cuz you play them nice love songs, people give you money cuz you play awesome rock tunes, the parties you go to cuz your cool from playing music supply you with all the drug and sex you need! music is more important than money in my opinion

  5. so i've never had anyone tell me to take care of my strings. i've had people talk about cleaning the body, oiling the neck, and all that other jazz, but my strings are being neglected, and i know it! i did a search here in the forum and there was nothing i could find, so i turned to the 2 guitar sites that might have that info, and theres no guitar care info. so here i am!

so heres what im gettin at, what do i have to do to make my strings last more than 2 months? i slapped on some nice new strings on my electified wood and already their starting to rust out and put all kinds of crap on my neck and frets. now i live about 120 metres from the atlantic, and the air is extreemly moist, but still.. 2 months!?

i'm looking into a dehumidifier because i also know dry air is better for guitars than wet air. thats going to take a while to pick up though.

so what should i do? slap on some break fluid? spray it with armour all? burn off the rust? carve the guitar gods name into my fret board in hopes that it will take care of the strings for me?

i know what your thinkin, "gah! how can he not know how to take care of his strings?!" well... i've only owned a guitar for about 10 months now. actually.. 10 months and 11 days.

oh, sorry for my lack of capatilization, its a terrible habbit that i can't get out of.

  6. so that theres always somethin left to be unpredictable about. honestly, who wants to hang around something where you know EXACTLY whats going to happen next.. its like a predictable movie... except real life!

  7. i notice that when i play my guiar at school, i ALWAYS get a huge crowd of people. at least 50% of them know how to play well, 20% are able to play, and 30% usually sit back and enjoy.

these groups arent small, or just one type of people. like at least 20 people, from prep to punk to ghetto.

not only do i draw a crowd, but people always say "i wish i had money to buy a guitar" or "wow, ima go home and play my guitar"

    yea, have a chilly one

  8. building from scratch is what i put. theres something worth being in awe when somebody takes a seemingly bland chunk of wood, and turns it into something along the lines of lex's 5 string fretless. chunk of wood, godly sexy bass. chunk of wood, godly sexy bass. also, that topic would cover every aspect of building, including finishing

  9. but unfortunately i missed out on alot of the prime learning years.

yea, i completely missed the 9-12 prime, and im mid way through the last prime of my life, 16-18. it wasnt my choice to miss out, when i was 8 i wanted to play guitar... but due to poor income i wasnt able to get one.. the first thing i bought when i got a job was my electified wood. im learning enough i spose!

  10. male and 17 last time i checked..but last year i was 16, and next year i hope to be 18 - but you never know, time might reverse and i might end up being 4

according to time dialation, if you travel at nearly the speed of light, in 30 years on earth you may be able to age only 20-25 in your spacecraft.... now its just a matter of finding you that space ship!

as for me, im 17. the joyous age of 17. in canada, im old enough to go to jail, but not old enough to drink, have an adult bank account, pay taxes, live on my own, own a car (well.. i can own one buy its hard) or uhh.. i duno.. some more stuff.

  11. at first i was like... what the hell just played on my radio. i remember vividly thinking "ok, so it was a guy, but probably a transvestite, and i think it had guitar worked into it... kinda weird beat" but then i actually listened to it one day, and i was like.. hey, 80's cool! i bought the cd, and i was like.. woah.. man even the cd is like it came from the 80's! at that point i thought they were a joke band.. but then i listened to the cd.. and it was legit. almost like they were pinched from my birthyear.

joke? nah. i think its their style. after all, no parody/joke band would put a naked chick on their cover with a UFO, and have big hair, and wear body suits that are unzippered to expose a nice hairy chest! the hairy chest sealed the legitimicy for me!

one of very few brit bands i can stand... brit music hasnt been very good in my books so far.. dont know why exactly...

  12. quick question, whats the name of the style of bridge and stringing you used? hows it work? strap the strings through the guitar, lace em over the bridge and just... am i on the right track?

BTW, AWESOME job on er. i love metalic paint. always have, always will. its a custom car thing that never went away. and the stringing fits perfectly! i know its not really a cosmetic thing, but it turned out that way, and ill probabloy use that style on my 1st creation i have in the works (very, very slow works) which is still on paper.
