  1. If you like the way it plays then I would say yes you got a good deal.

    Bingo!

I mean seriously. If you looked at SRV's #1 guitar and he was some guy on the street, how much would you really offer for that guitar? Granted it is a Fender but it had a lot of character. What is that thing worth today? A million ?

If you like it and it sounds good, that is all that matters.

  2. Hi guys!

We just completed a Blues tune, my first "blues tune" actually. In light of the Paris Hilton events, I decided to make it a kind of fun tune. Anyway I figured I would post it and see what you guys think.

    Credits:

    Warren Peese - Drums

Floridamusic - Solos, Keys, Mix & Master

Dazed - Guitar, Bass & vocals

  3. I have an opportunity to buy this guitar for $500 w/ the case, $400 w/o. Its a 1997 Gibson DC with a maple cap in wine red finish, near perfect condition. I really don't need it, and it wouldn't get too much playing time, however the price seems really good, and judging on its age and condition it will skyrocket in market value over the next few years. Before you say BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd like to again say that I won't be playing it often as I my Gibson SG and the SG I built are my two main guitars. It will most likely sit in a closet for a while until I find a buyer and hopefully make some cash off of it.

I'm on the fence on this one, help me out!

If cash is not an option, buy it. If you consider it an investment, you have to look at it like a savings account. You will get your money back eventually. Providing you take care of it!

I think it is a good price si I would probably jump on it.

  4. I use a V-Amp Pro into an MBox with Pro Tools. At times I will mic my Carvin SX300H amp with a Carvin M68. For vocals I use a Carvin CM87S Large Diaphragm Condenser mic.

As for latency, I have not experienced any with the MBox. That is one of the reasons I wanted to go external. Pro Tools is a great setup but for those of you considering it, do some research first and make sure your system will run it. Vista is not supported yet but will be soon. Some Motherboards are also not supported. It is requested that you use two hard drives. Pro Tools on one and Projects on the other. I had errors running on one hard drive. RAM Is Key! Get as much as you can afford. Pluggins eat resources like Roseanne Barr eats twinkies.

  5. what are the tabs for that? or what key is it in?

    its very good :D

    yeah i like it

the solo theame very dreamtheater in a very "about to crash" way

did you make the guitar sorry i didnt pick it up??

If you do not get this resolved here is the easiest way to help your situation.

Call the corporate office, usually you can google all the information, and ask for their executive customer relations office. If they do not have one, ask for the VP of Sales or President of the Company. You can also look for their email addresses on the internet. Once you escalate to these levels, they do not want to deal with it so they will usually just replace the item. What you are asking for is not unfair. You just want them to honor their obligation since they sold you this "insurance policy".

Sadly I have had to do this three times in my life and the results were always the same. I got what I wanted every time. I go through the normal channels first and no one wanted to correct the issues. After two months, I told the reps that since they were unable to resolve the issue, I would handle it myself. I googled the presidents of the three companies and found their names. Then I looked for how their email addresses were defined for the company. Like bob.jones@isp.com or b_jones@isp.com. Once I have the format I send a blind cc to variations of the name. Usually I get several bounce backs and one that goes through. I have had a phone call the next day from the executive customer relations group telling me how they were going to resolve my issue.

One example...I had a toshiba laptop that did not work right from bootup. I reloaded the OS 4 times and had errors on the install. I sent it back and they returned it a few days later. None of the issues I told them about were addressed. They changed the RAM out and said it was fine. Same issues. Login file always corrupt and you could not get to a windows screen or even get into safe mode. I told them I wanted a new laptop. After two months I got in touch with the VP of Customer Relations. I shipped the laptop to them and they determined the processor was defective. They shipped me a new laptop and upgraded it like you would not believe. The new laptop rocks!

Anyway try this as a last resort.

  6. Thanks InbanezFreak. We are in the process of redoing it all. Everything was retracked and it is in the mix /master process. Hopefully it will be done by the weekend.

    If I remember correctly the bassline was B, G, B, G, E, G, D

  7. Sad state of affairs. You may sometimes wonder how all the sudden there are large amounts of figured maples that hit the market. The wood is not that common, but it seems to show up as though it is. It doesn't supprise me at all.

    Peace, Rich

I think there are so many boutique guitars on the market now that are really drawing attention to the figured and flamed maples. My carvin CT6M is a flamed maple and it definitley looks stunning. I can't believe these guys would cut down trees of this magnitude to grab a few body blanks.

  8. I wrote this bass line awhile back and then added vocals and some guitar but just was not happy with it. So I scrapped it. Periodically I like to write bass lines first and then add the rest. It helps me mix things up a bit. So here is the bass line with a drum loop on it. The goal on this is to write a complete guitar piece (and whatever else you want to add) and with luck have several variations of it.

I will post the version I have later :D Anyone up for it?

  9. Oh well. :D *bump*

I enjoyed your songs, though I admit I didn't listen to the whole shebang. Had a bit of a vibe to it that I couldn't quite put my finger on. "Supergroup" classic rock or something (eg. Journey, Night Ranger, Foreigner).

I won't even listen to all of them lol. We just do this as a hobby. It keeps me off the streets.

  10. The Line 6 Gear Box is pretty awesome. That is the first I have seen it.

    Thanks for pointing it out!

As for Behringer I was surprised to see Alex Lifeson uses several of their products in his arsenal.

I read about it in the last issue of Sound on Sound magazine, and was glad to hear about it because I'd always wanted their Amp Farm which has been used on tons of records, but it was only a TDM Pro Tool format. I was finally glad to see Line 6 to put out a new plugin that the RTAS, VST, and AU format, for us less fortunate to not own a Pro Tools HD setup. So, I'm definitely wanting to buy it soon. I've also got my eye out on IK Multimedia's new Amplitube Jimi Hendrix plugin.

Yeah I'd seen Alex using some Behringer stuff. BTW, have you bought the newest Rush album? It just came out.

Actually my wife grabbed it yesterday off of itunes. She was never a huge RUSH fan but said it is very ggod. Matter of fact I think the "word of mouth" she did on it sold about 10 copies already!

  11. you can still do it with the guitar, i dont see a point in putting the amp on full volume :S (unless it only has 1 volume control)

It sounds lke he was a big fan of spinal tap. does his amp go to 11?

Truthfully if I did that my sound would suck. Dialing in your amp is an art. He is not getting the full benefit of guitar or amp.

  12. If I want to record a riff so I don't forget it,all it takes is about 2 minutes of prep(start computer, start Nuendo, right click on add new track, click the record enable and mute buttons, plug in guitar, and go).

if I want a click track, that only takes a few seconds as well.

I can't play to a click track to save my life. I end up playing to a drum loop and then pulling that and adding a click track back in so our drummer can work on it.

  13. I think that considering the POD as being "obsolete" in a few years is a matter of subjective opinion. Better things might appear, but the POD will still do what it does and if that's what you want it to do then cool! The only thing that irks ME is that in a few years it will have gone down in price radically, and the GAS will try and make me buy the "newer" thingamadoodle that supposedly is the best thing on the cutting edge of modelling tech :-D

Similarly to DFH, a POD can create great results for scratch tracks, but you can quickly re-record these in a studio using real amps and getting a better and more workable sound!

In obsolete I mean that typically companies will build things like the "PODxt2" in order to generate a new revenue stream. POD has already done v2 if I remember correctly. Guitars and amps are pretty static in this area unless you are looking at midi.

So yeah I agree 100% on the price drops!

  14. I think i'll go the way of a lot of people, and invest in a couple of Line6 units for guitar and bass, The immediacy of plug and play does help grease the spontaneity somewhat. I hate having to build and configure stuff when i'm itching to thrash one out.

    :D

But anyway....! I think adding either a couple of desktop PODs or perhaps if i'm feeling flush a couple of POD XT rackmounts would remove the need for lugging my Trace stack to the recording setup every time.

Does anyone else use Drumkit From Hell/EZ-Drummer in any way shape or form? They're so much cooler when you start routing the virtual mic outputs via individual channel processing....

GuitarFrenzy - my applause to you for being able to spend that much time on a snare. Personally speaking when I am mixiong vocals I get tired of listening to myself after 10 minutes. No idea how someone can spend hours mxing dry vox!

Prostheta - I have heard great things about DFH. A lot of guys on my site use them. We finally got a real drummer so now I write to a loop. Then I pull the loop and put in a click track and send it to him. Not the most effective way of doing things but when everyone lives in different states, you do what you can.

I would love the PODxt Rack but at $700, that just bothers me. I can spend $2000 on a guitar or even a $1200 on an amp but a $700 rackmount that will be outdated in a few years irks me. At least the guitar and amp will always be "Classic" but effects change so often, I was hesitant about buying it. I opeted for the v-amp pro rack instead. Not bad but the POD's do sound better.
