  1. I think it's great. I didn't notice any trouble with the delay on the rythm guitar - did you re-mix it?

Keep at it - you have got talent and potential.

P.S. - since I'm an old man by this site's standards - is that style of music fairly popular with the younger crowd or is it still considered "alternative"? It doesn't matter at all - just curious.

Not at all, in fact (From what i've heard, this style is fairly original)

I don't hear much else like it unless is small key stuff...

    The music I like:

DMB, Mudvayne, 30 Seconds to Mars, Before Braille, Blue Man Group, Smashing Pumkpins....this list goes on but be sure that none of it sounds anything like this particular spectrum of my writing...

Thank you all for whatever comments you've had!

  2. Just wondering if the mahogany would be a non issue being it would just be wings glued on to the neck. The neck would produce most (if not all) of the tone being it is a neck through. Again I'm just wondering. :D

Although it seems logical (the strings are not connected directly to the mahongany) i don't think that is a correct assumption.

Given that the wings are properly jointed and glued, the vibrations would transfer from the bridge to the body the same as it would if they were a single piece of wood.

I'm sure wood density, weight, (and maybe porousness) in the wings have their effects on the vibrations of the wood. An instrument with no wings would surely sound less whole than one with wings?

Saying the wings have no effect on the tone would be similar to this scenario:

Say you have a neck 5 pc, maple, ebony, bubinga, walnut, mahogany

The neck would no doubt produce a distinct tone, but it is highly unlikely (has anyone tried this?) that playing your b and e strings produce a completely different sonic sound than the a and d strings just because they above a different sort of wood.

I could be way wrong, I'm just trying to be logical...

  3. I have no experience with heat damaged guitars, just to start off.

The binding shouldn't be too hard to replace. You would just need to reroute the channel that the binding fits in, get new binding, bend (if needed) and glue it in.

As far as the finish goes, you'd be fine to just sand through the lacquer and refinish.

How is the wood of the guitar? Is the blistering you mentioned in the actual wood? Is the action OK? It plays alright?

IF you see nothing wrong with the actual construction and stability of the instrument, I don't think that you'll have any kind of problem on your hands, a quick refinish and a binding job.

I would still recommend taking it to a local guitar shop and have them do a setup and intonation on it whenst you're finished, just to be sure everything is still good and proper.

Other than that...it's a Martin eh? Not a bad deal...seems they go for about $250 to $400 on the 'bay.

  4. I like the revised shapes MUCH better.

The "ALTERNATIVE" is my personal favorite, however, i do very much like the (swung?) look of the lower body contour on the revised version. If you could somehow find a happy median between those two...

the "ALTERNATIVE" reminds me VERY much of the Plume Singlecuts found at JPBasses.com, but then again, most singlecut basses look the same.

Keep up the good work bro, I honestly can't wait to see what you end up with for a budy cut out on the pretty spalt...

  5. Long quote from Drak.....

Yeah I believe this looks about like the 2nd attempt. I have some nice veneer I'd like to try, and as this guitar is not mine (AHHH!) I do want it to be very nice when I return it.....

Also, haha, in English class I always turn in the first draft, and its always perfect....

I suppose I'm not quite as good at guitars as I am at doing my native language....

ive been looking everywhere for some PRS project parts!! ARGHHH CANT FIND ANY

Where have you been looking? PRS sells a lot of their stuff right out of production. The guitar that I've got here came with chrome no name tuners, the Korean trem, etc. The guy that owns it bought the PRS locking tuners ($120) and you can buy any pickup that PRS makes right off their website....

The Korean trem is not that much different than the american (I was comparing the two last night and did not really notice very many differences....)

  6. its a korean PRS, a santana SE

:D Note the no carved top. I plan on doing some touch up on the finish a little. I agree with the whole too much white thing.

I will probably just scrap the whole thing however, the "marble" finish was actually just an accident, but i thought i'd try it to see what kinda response it got...

BLS....PRS has only 1 model thats a bolt on. The rest are s/n. The bolt on is the CE series, 22 and 24.
