  1. What power amp distortion sounds like depends on the type of power amp. If it is a SS amp or tube with NFB (most high-power amps) you get a harsh, trebly distortion (like Marshall). A tube amp with no NFB (like a Vox) gives you a tube-ish overdrive sound.

  2. Sorry, I don't know that much about pickups, I've never built my own... I have no idea why, to answer your question. Can you actually adjust the polepieces on that side? Most pickups with adjustable polepieces only have 1 adjustable coil, so I would think that your pickup should have 2 holders. Are you the first owner of your guitar? The only thing that I can think of is that someone else opened up your pickups and lost the polepiece holder.

  3. I don't think that the pots + knobs were really one piece, they were just put together really tight. Why would B.C. Rich make it like that? It would make it about 10 times as hard to put the guitar together. My Ibanez has no screws on the knobs, I just pulled them off with pliers and they came off fine. (Probably not good for the body, but it worked.)
