can shellac be used on maple fingerboards? what results will it produce?
-
This is a pretty dumb question, but what should be used? Dye, translucent or opaque colours?
-
How do you get a Fender 3-colour sunburst?
-
That worked, Ray! Thanks! Turns out the body and neck were stuck together with finish.. well, its out now. thx again.
-
So how should i spray it on? with wet passes or kinda like 'dust' it on? also, how many layers should i have and sand up what grade?
-
Hmm... when i tyr to pull the neck off, it makes a kind of 'cracking' noise... any idea..??
-
What should i finish my maple neck and fingerboard with so that it has a 'wet' and shiny look while maintaining a smooth feel??
P.S. I just finished scalloping it..
-
I have a Fender copy and it has a bolt on neck. I tried removing the neck by simply unscrewing the screws but it won't come off.. its like its glued on or something... help pls....
-
so i pack the cavity first and not mix the material with the glue...?? hmm... what if the cavity is quite deep? do i do it in layers?
-
Superglue...?? isn't that stuff clear? aren't inlays supposed to be white/whitish..? also, is it possible to use clear epoxy/superglue and mix it with silver glitter to make an inlay?
-
can somebody pls give me the measurements (height and width) of an ESP F? Thx..
-
You're welcome... Now my turn.. does anybody have a template/ layout of an ESP F?? i've posted in several but so far no one has bothered to reply... pls help me out....
-
what type of epoxy is used for inlaying?
-
what about basswood?? would it need filling?
-
replies anyone...???
-
How about an ESP F?? Anyone have a layout of it? A basic outline (to scale) will do too..
-
i would, but i don't know how to do a solid colour burst... and i'm a little short on cash at the moment...
-
Quite irrelevant and unrelated to this topic, would a turquoise burst finish look nice?? Can anyone show a pic of such a finish pls...??
Not on Walnut, not.
You need WHITE woods (maple, etc.) to make anything in a blue-greeny family look its best.
I don't mean on walnut, i mean that colour in general with a white base coat.. how about a metallic turquoise burst...? if its possible...

i don't know where to get an S or SZ, but i do know where to get a JS.. its almost the same as an S aside from the radius.. alternatively, you could use a regular RG and modify the horns to get the basic shape of an S.. anyway, heres a link to the JS..

wow! that guitar looks killer!

I thought the Ampegs had a great tone. I've played several plastic-bodied guitars that have come out in recent years, and they all sounded like junk. Thing was, a lot of them where no-name beaters or cheap eBay specials, and I'm sure the wood guitars coming out of those factories sounded just as awful. I have a feeling that that Ibanez sounds great as well. I don't know, I think there's more into it than just the body materials. Some of my favorite guitar sounds are old Danelectros (masonite) and Nationals (fibreglass).
i'm sure that the pickups play a vital role in the overall sound of a guitar.. but do them plastic bodied guitar sound REALLY bad or are they just 'not-so-good'..?
