Hi,
I'm a total newbie, and i don't know a whole lot about electronics but . . . I made myself an aluminum pickguard, and i've got a few questions. I'm hoping someone is willing to help me out.
1) is it safe? i've got everything grounded to the vol pot, so when i mount the pots and switches to the bare metal of the pickguard, the pickguard becomes grounded as well, right? And when i touch the pickguard when i play, am I going to change the potential, become the new sink, and fry myself?
2) would it be better to insulate the mounting surface, stick sheet of copper on top the insulation, and use that for my ground?
3) if #2's a good idea, what type of material would you recommend for insulation? paint? plastic washers? epoxy?
Thanks in advance. I know that's a lot for one post, but any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to die.
