Nice im gonna give that a try (the whole neck thing ) i mostly cut just the fretboard slots,perimeter (and inlay) with my small machine CNC cut the parts,body,rough top,covers,rings,etc with the bigger one.

it started at 1" the top but that too is hollowed out only weighs about 7 pounds

here is another style that im making for another customer its a lp style with a aggressive carved top the woods are
black walnut back
with a maple,white limba,fiddleback rosewood,accent lines, laminated neck

tiger hard maple cap

the headstock has a ebony plate bound with western tiger maple(as does the body and neck)

the fretboard is Madagascar rosewood bound with western tiger maple

with cocobolo pickup surrounds and matching back covers and knobs
cust is undecided on inlay as of this posting(i know its something wild anyway) ill post more soon after neck is done being carved

ok i have one in my hand i got it down to 17 and 3/8 by the threads that are on it (just have to trim the back threads off) if ya trim a tiny bit of plastic away from the red covers ya prob can get it to 17 straight up oh it is 18 including the nut

did ya try shortening it with the threads yet?

more info is needed >is it a rosewood fretboard to begin with? if so do you have any matching (somewhat lighter) rosewood around ? post a pic of the damaged area please

what kind of stew mac file are you using? and are you talking about(right around the very corners of the fret ends?) ive found the stew mac#1175 to be pretty good (can you post a pic of where you talking about it would help)
