  1. For those of you looking for wood in the UK I now have a web store online at... EDIT: See post below

I currently have Ash, Sapele and Korina body blanks for sale, all being well I'll be stocking a wider range of wood over the coming weeks/months. Payment is via Paypal, all items are sent out with DHL 3-5 service. If you have any questions please send me a PM :D

Please Note: I'll be on holiday from September 13th-17th, so I will be unable to post items or respond to e-mails/pm's until I get back. Any items brought while I'm away will be sent out as soon as I return.

  2. Yep, the first I do when I get in the workshop is put some music on. I tend to listen to quite mellow stuff when I'm working (I save the Metal for when I'm out on the bike). I've become obsessed with Jackson Browne lately, I can easily play his live acoustic album over & over all day without getting sick of it... oh and Newton Faulkner's debut album has been blasting out my speakers a lot over the last couple of weeks too.

  3. I brought this from ebay at the beginning of the year to use as a 2nd stage guitar, but as I've now left my band I've decided to sell it on. It's an Ibanez SZ320, fitted with EMG 81/85 pickups, mahogany set neck (25.1" scale), mahogany body with carved maple top (not a thin veneer). Apart from very slight buckle rash on the rear it's in great condition as you can see from the pictures. The only bad point is the bridge, as the plating on the bridge post and 1st saddle has worn off and rusted slightly, the chrome coating has also worn off the top area of the plastic pickup ring... I can only guess that the previous owner must of had extremely sweaty hands! I've taken a close up so you can see it clearly. I thought I'd advertise it on here and UKGB before listing in on ebay.

£200 inc postage (UK mainland fully insured), Paypal only.

  4. however the singer can be tough to take sometimes. A little too dramatic for me

    +1

Great band, I can't say I've been blown away by the last 2 albums (Systematic Chaos is slowly growing on me), although Train of Thought takes a lot of beating for me personally.

  5. First dibs on the sapele, Simo. What dimensions are we talking? I need back wood for my wife's semi-hollow Les Paul and this sounds like it'll do the trick nicely. If you've got a second going then i'll have that too for an RG body build....

I have 2 more sets that I'll be planing later this week, they're from the same board as the one above so they're the same width (7") and 21" long (might even be longer). I'll be planing them down to 1 3/4"...unless you want them cut to a different thickness, that's no problem either. £40 if you want one, or £70 for two sets.

    :D

  6. Sapele Body Blank:

    25" long, 7" wide, 1 3/4" thick.

I'd prefer payment by Paypal, sorry but I'll only post to the UK. They'll be on ebay in a couple of days, so don't miss out :D

  7. Excellent work Simo - hope your sinuses aren't permanantly sensitised from wood dust or anything!

I bet you're itching (*no joke intended*) to get it strung up for the first time....what nut material have you settled on?

Luckily I seem to be ok with wood dust, which is a big relief! although I try and avoid mdf, etc as much as possible. As for the nut... I was going to use Graphite but I'm thinking about making my own from Ebony now.

  8. I brought this from Stew Mac a few months back but I ended up not using it. It's a nice dark piece, only slight issue with it is that they've done a crap job of trimming the end, as you'll see from the 2nd pic it's pretty close to the last fret slot, so it might be an issue if you're need all 24 frets, although that chip in the corner should easily be outside the width of your neck.

    Dimensions: 2-3/8" x 19-3/8" x 15/64"

    Radius: 12"

    Fret slots: 24 + Fender-style 1/8" nut slot

    £12.50 inc postage (Paypal preferred)

  9. Slash is the one who got me in to playing guitar in the first place, and although I can't say I'm a huge fan of VR he's still number 1 in my book. Followed by... (in no order) Brian May, Dimebag, Hendrix, Adrian Smith, Tony Iommi, Richie Blackmore.... I could go on for hours :D

  10. Formerly a Peavey 5150 2x12 combo.

Now: Pod XT Pro to a Mesa/Boogie Stereo 2:50 power amp and two separate 1x12 Rocktron Velocity cabs. Well, actually I just sold off the cabs and I'm in the process of selling the Mesa power amp. I have no idea what I'm going to do. I'd like to go back to the 5150 combo, but I sold it 9 months ago to buy the Mesa. I'm thinking I may also ditch the POD XT Pro and save up for a Hughes and Kettner Triamp and go back to pedals. The POD is nice, but I'm still having a hard time getting the tones I want.

You should try out an Atomic... http://www.atomicamps.com :D
