After painting the aluminum foil on my guitar the color I want it, can I use Polyurethane to add clear coat?
-
I recently did a custom paint job on my first guitar and now I'm putting everything back together. Here is an MSPAINT describing my plight:
I snipped the wire connecting the cable-port part to the rest of the wiring and I am trying to put them back together. First I tried peeling some of the insulation from both ends to twist both exposed ends together, but that didn't work. Then, as I was putting my thumb on the cable-end, I noticed that no BZZT sound came when I touched the exposed cable-port-wire-end, but only when I touched the nub of the port-end. So I snipped off the exposed wire so that it was back to just insulated nub. I thumb it, and the BZZT indicating some sort of current happens.
My question is: What is the proper way to connect these two wires?

I have searched and found no answers. There are suggestions for people, but I haven't seen any answer about how any type of paint besides humbrol works.

I've read the site's tutorial which said to use oil-based paint. The problem I have is that the oil-paint I use won't dissipate in the water. Instead, it sinks. According to the label, it uses "pure linseed oil." I also tried one with "modified linseed oil" with similar results. I don't live in the UK, so I have no access to Humbrol. What paint can I use?
Finishing Aluminum

The only thing I've done so far is superpaste the aluminum on the bare wood guitar. I plan on spray painting it shiny metal purple. What sort of primer do I use? Will it affect the shiny-ness of the finish?
