I was always told take a piece of poster board. Push it down onto the recesses so it makes an outline of the cavity then cut along the lines and use that as your template.

Just saw one on E-bay , maybe i can fish up the link.
Nevermind its a beast neck .... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW

No. It wasn't Ed Roman. Found it on ebay. Maple neck with purple heart stripes and walnut wings. 1 1/2" thick. This guy must sell more than a few of these on ebay cause there were a lot of good feed back from previous buyers.
phew thank god it wasnt ed , for a minute i thought youd been ripped off. Sounds like a cool bird to me.

Just purchased a mockingbird neck through body blank. I haven't received it yet but was wondering what to expect as far as the neck to body angle. Do the Mockingbirds have a straight neck to body like the Fender or are they at an angle like the Gibson?
Where'd you get it from ? Please tell me it wasnt Ed Roman
Oh , and it should have an angle like a gibson.

are you asking US if NEAL MOSER is building his guitars in an acceptable way?
the man is a master of guitar building...his is not the only way,and it is not the way i do it,but it most CERTAINLY is acceptable
Glad to see your a fan of Neal , If you want come join the forum at http://mcs.acidpit.org/ . It would be nice to see you there.

Cool, thanks guys.
I woulda got the black pickup covers but my vendor bailed out
ohwell
Not like ya cant just change them later. Yay for pickup covers.
-
Woulda been cool to see you paint the pickup covers too.

I wouldnt mind seeing that ibanez bass.

I know Maiden uses a seymour duncan JB or JB junior in the bridge , then duncan hotrails in their neck and middle. Im sure you could fit a battery in your guitar. Metallica uses EMG 81's and i think SA's if the use singles which are both active.....

I was cruzin the web yesterday and thought of you matt. PointyGuitars.com have a submission section and this was the one that brought to mind your new design.
Looks like you discovered my buddy Ken Patins guitars , check out www.yavcon.com ..... Yavcon is now part of MCS.

Here's a pic of the trems:
http://www.tremol-no.com/images/dwtrems.jpg
And some more info from the seller:
"These are split bridges, meaning they have independent movement of half the strings, pitch up and pitch down. Possible to do funky things like pedal steel bends. They have a "zero position" unit that works with the normal springs in the rear cavity. This helps tuning after heavy use (the piece in the center of the picture)."
Wow..... If i had the money id snag them just to see what they are like.

Looks like one Pi**ed of Ironbird.

Jonez makes those things now i think. http://www.jonezguitarz.com/pics.html

Wierd. Seems alot different rounded. But , actually ... i hafta say i like it.
-
the body it came off of used a tune-o-matic stoptail setup. Sounds like you got the one off of e-bay. Be careful with that thing or youll end up snapping the headstock off.

Or steel a fume cupboard from a school
My school actually has a spray booth in the basement artrooms complete with fans and everything. Too bad they only use it for glazing ceramics. I should bring in my spraygun and let loose.

Ive seen a steel conversion nut for turning a regular guitar into a slide guitar at my local shop , you just drop it in the old one used to be. Maybe you could snag one of those.

If you want i can e-mail pics , just drop me a line at Executioner606@yahoo.com

The oil finish is definatly worth the effort. I have one neck finished in tung and another done in linseed. Theyre smooth as heck.
-
Well I am looking more for the locking tuners only because I have a floyd rose in the guitar and a roller nut instead of the typical locking nut. I don't plan to completely dive the strings so the Locking tuners should be adequate to keep it somewhat in tune.
I forgot to mention they were locking tuners.
Wouldnt be interested in a d-tuna would ya ?
-
I have a set of 3x3 black prs style locking tuners , if you want me to send pics of them i will..
Id like to get $32 out of them so i can buy some new grovers.

Yay i was right. I was thinking it was a hondo formula one instead of 875 though.

Pretty cool looking dude. I like the shades of blue personally.

Mako did make set necks, also great solid body les pauls and explorers etc. This is definately no BC rich, regardless what the decal says. I have played 2 exact the same Mako bich guitars, both same headstock and set neck construction. Both plywood. Maybe you're lucky with the solid maple.
BC rich also never made such a trusrod adjustment on the headstock, not even the low budget types.
Also, this type is set neck was never done by bc rich.
But still a good deal for $60
Its definatly not a rich. Might even be a hondo. Im trying to remember which BCR knockoffs used that headstock. Ill check it out later.
