  1. and also, the "correct" dye is not readily available locally to some people, like me. and i've really looked. i'm planning on ordering some online even if shipping doubles or triples the cost for a future project, but it'll be a while.

I doubt it. I live in a country where fillers, paint, sanding sealer and stuff is almost impossible to get, but I can get dye in any paint store.

Other than that, if you're building a guitar that costs a few hundred bucks, why would you even take the risk.

Oh whatever. experiment en ruin finishes as much as you want....

Some people just don't want to learn. :D

  2. We'd love to see the perfect guitars you already made, but to be honest, I think those guitars simply don't excist, or are sold without you taking photo's.

Jeff, cut the crap and try to learn something from this. Step down from that ivory tower and be a little more reasonable. Right now you're making a fool out of yourself.

However, I'll take back anything I said when I see pics of the perfect guitars you sold to your customers.

  3. Well thanks for the encouragement, but why the hell should I try it?

I can buy dye in any color I want for $3.50.

This dye has been tested and approved on wood and gives great results. Why would I risk using something else that obviously doesn't give the same results and has been reported to lose it's color?

What is the point of using this stuff????? I just can't see no single advantage to regular dye.

  4. I buy dye for $3.50, put it in a jar and I can re-use it all the time.

I can also put small batches in different jars. I don't understand what you're trying to say about making small batches.

The whole point is that why would you risk a finish if tested and appropriate dye's can be bought DIRT cheap?

  5. Something else: Did you guys notice the question was from a new forum member who never came back or took the time to say thanks?

Not meaning to hyjack the thread, but this is pissing me off big time and the sole reason I barely take the time to answer questions by people with post count 1.

  6. slayer does it alot...and so did stevie...hammer on and pull off the same two notes over and over as fast as you can...south of heaven is a good example

so is "little wing" by stevie

oh, In that case.. I think I know how to trill ......

  7. why you say that?

because the neck is crooked. Draw a straight line on the treble side and you know what I mean.

Either the strings will run off the fretboard in the middle or, they'll be too far from the edge at the nut and the end of the neck.

However, since it's a bolt on, you could always build a new neck if this one doesn't work out for you.

A tip for getting straight edges if you don't have a router: glue some sanding paper on a straight piece of wood and sand...sand sand.....
