  1. Cool. I was always concerned with warping the neck and stuff like that.

I didn't want a multi-stand thing, because I like having them displayed (I don't play well enough to necessitate the type and amount of gear I have, so they'd better be art too :D ) Also, I have a few "odd" style guitars (explorers, V's) that don't fit wekk into those multi-stand things that look like guitar cases or brief cases.

I run into the finish reaction with the tube stands I use now. I just buy cheap face cloths or dish towels, and attach them over the rubber parts. Works well, doesn't cause problems.

  2. I'm about to buy a house, and I wanted to take a room for my music stuffs. (I'm single, so I can build a temple to my wasted youth without pissing off a wife-type.) I have a bunch of guitars, and I was thinking about using the wall hanger thingies to hang them all on the wall.

But I wasn't sure if they are a really good idea. I have (most of) them on regular guitar stands with the neck support (I don't trust the small compact ones). Does anyone know anything good or bad about using the wall hangers?

  3. I favor the dunlop dual-locking straplocks.

I use Levy's 2" plain black leather straps (M-7 or something like that). They are a pain to find out, cause all of the shops have all those crazy design or thick-on-one-end, thin-on-the-other straps.

I'm simple, just a 2" plain black leather strap.

  4. No, I had to use an overdrive pedal to beef it up. It was as if I was using a low input to the amp instead of the high (not a feature on that Marshall).

Either way, the amp is long gone now. Once I had a more stable income, I bought a Mesa (and then a second one...)

  5. What is the 2-12 version? Do you mean two 12" speakers like the one I was talking about? We may not have had the same model but mine has two distortion options - the first is for that 70's raspy sound and the second is a high gain smooth, rich distortion.

Yeah 2x12" speakers. The 8060 or some weird number, I can't remember. Mine was the same, 2 distortions. The "OD2" just didn't have enough kick. I even replaced the tube to see if that was it.

I played it with guitars from everything from EMG 81s, Gibson 500Ts, Duncan JBs and distortion pickups. It just didn't thicken up. It didn't have enough "umpf" for me. It didn't sound like a Marshall.

Like most others have said, the only way to know is to go and play through it yourself.

  6. Well, it was worth what I paid for it. It has a crack on the headstock, but not all the way through. The fretboard started pulling away a bit.

I cleaned and polished it after I got it (a few months ago now), and just recently replaced the TOM and Stopbar with black ones I had lying around. I left the posts for both parts gold. It actually (IMO) looks pretty cool. Sort of like a bad Stryper knock-off (am I dating myself with the old Glamrock reference?)

    I'll bring new pix someday.

  7. Yeah, you can flash the bios for the unit, but I don't have a midi hookup for the computer, and I never really looked into getting it. I used the rack setup for a while with the big pedal board unit (ART X-15). But now that I'm not gigging anymore, it's sorta overkill. I still have all that stuff, but I mostly play through a solidstate peavey combo. It has a switchable effects loop, and I just leave the G-major on a nice chorus, and voila, an expensive chorus pedal.

  8. I have one with the old version software. (like 1.01 or something). I really only use it for chorus with my small amp because my rack setup hasn't gone anywhere in a long time now.

I've always had a hard time getting the volumes to even out.
