I typed it into google and I just clicked the first thing. Punisher Bass. Of course its expensive. It would be cool if saved enough images so you could make your own. . But I know that there are some dream guitars that I would love to get my hands on.

Yeah I could add a white dot, but what I like about the knob that I was looking for was that it was a black metal knob that had much less of a gloss over the top of the knob, so IMO it would better compliment a more classy instrument. I don't want everything to look extra shiny. I know I am a geek or maybe a bit picky, but my options are open.

Hey Jack, its ok. At first glance I thought they were new. I did find them at musiciansfriend. The store on ebay that I visited that you found is called guitar crisis. They don't have the knobs there today, but I'm sure some would be there tomorrow. Thanks for trying to find a place though, I appreciate it.

Yeah, that would be my best guess, the ebony ferrules. But, when I checked out ebay agian yesterday those knobs that I checked out were used. The knobs are gone today at the sellers store. I have checked our suppliers page and people seem to carry every knob but the one that I am looking for. Does anybody know of a site that has these knobs? The black knob w/ the dot. I am obsessive, I need to find this. Can anybody else help? I probably looked on the net today for two more hours.

looking at them closer they must be metal. They have got those diamond channels running down the sides for grip. That would be hard to do with wood with that type of precision. Some place has to supply these. Just can't find em.

I visited zachary guitars. I do not whole heartedly agree with his philosophy however interesting it is, but he has knobs on this guitar that I have never seen before. They are Here. Does anyone know where I could find them? I like the two horizontal lines on them and the fact that it does not look metallic. I shot him an email, but as expected, I received no response. Has anyone seen these?

What I am going to do is go used. I need to hold off till the basement is organized. I am going to search for a good used 14 inch bandsaw or bigger. I don't care how old it is as long as it performs well. I am also going to search for a used standing drill press so I can use a safety planer. Those planers are great! I know I will need to use a table saw, but that will have to come later. I know a guy that I can call that he'll let me cut wood and run if I had to. It will probably be a while before I can have the basement organized though. I am sooo desperate to spend my tax return.

Thanks. I do have a router and a hand drill, but would it be ok if I just bought a descent benchtop drill press now and a good benchtop bandsaw now. Later I know for sure I am going to get much larger and better tools. But I just want to get by for now. Is that strategy ok? I have accumulated a couple of good hand planes of diffrent sizes and I do have a jigsaw at my disposal. I just lack the big toys. So going for a bechtop version of stuff now is ok? right?

I am making a guitar at a friends of my familys house. I am shadowing him and am learning a lot while I get a hands on experience. I want to get some of my own toys. I am 20 so I can't consider purchasing a delta 14" bandsaw or a really nifty drill press. What are your thoughts on a benchtop drill press? Should I avoid benchtop bandsaws? Could a scroll saw be used instead of a benchtop bandsaw? Since I can't get a planer, could a safety planer be used effectively on a benchtop drill press? I am new to this realm, so any comments would be great!

As far as getting them out I have seen a tool available from Stewmac that can take out those sockets becasue they are difficult to take out.

All of the guitars that I own are grounded in the tremolo cavity. I am building a guitar with a Tunomatic bridge. How do I string ground a tunomatic? Where is a good spot to do it. It is going to be recessed so do I have to somehow connect a wire to the bottom of the bridge? I'm confused.

I purchased the holdsworth neck pickup and the M22T bridge pickup. I got carvin's new catalogue and those pups look sweet! I decided to get their pickups because it seemed like the only people that were not satisfied were those that did not know how to set up the pickups correctly.

Ok, I am recessing because I didnt want to have to angle my bolt on neck. I know that angling is not difficult to do, but I ordered two Carvin humbuckers becasue they are cheaper than buying dimarzios or duncans. I have hearde many positives about Carvin's pickups as well. I'm kinda on a budget being a college kid. The bezels on the Carvin are low profile for the purpose of no neck angle. If I decided to angle the neck now then I would have to purchase new pickups becasue I am yet to find a replacable bezel for their own pickups. I was not worried too much about recessing the bridge, I was thinking I would have to recess the ferrules as well, but that doesn't seem to be the case I guess. I have heard of people and have seen recessed tailpieces before though. When I was talking about break angle, I was talking about the strings angle as it hits the saddle from the ferrules. I know that for intonation, I am angling the bridge 1/8 of an inch further on the base side. Treble stays the same, but that is what stewmac says at their fret calculator.

If I have time, I'll post my progress. The neck is curly Honduran mahogany and curly maple. The fingerboard is Madagascar ebony. The body is a 1 piece Hunduran mahogany body blank. Gold hardware will adorn it and it will have a clear finish

My bad. a sustainer pickup (commercial one) is esentially a single coil pickup and cannot be coil tapped.

I chose not to use a tailpiece. I am using a Gotoh Tunomatic with studs that I got from Stewmac. The saddles are pre notched but they need further refinement to fit the string properly. I am choosing to recess the bridge to eliminate neck angle.

Ok. I am recessing a tunomatic for the guitar I am building. I know I have to be carefull of covering the intonation screws. Before I start, does anybody know a good break angle over the tunomatic? I know the strings should avoid contact with the back of the bridge. Since I am recessing the bridge do I need to recess my string ferrules as well?

Hey everybody. It is time for me to route where my top ferrules will be since I am using a TOM. I know how far I want them from the bridge I just dont know if they should be in line with the strings or if I should break them to the left or right a litlle bit. I do want them to be evenly spaced though. Does anybody have any preferences or recommendations? Thanks.

Sorry about the confusion. What I meant was, could I coil tap a commercial sustainer, such as a Fernandez FSK 101. And I was wondering if I could wire it so that a humbucker could become a single coil if I chose to lift up on the tone pot. I am not looking to install one. I'm just curious.
