  1. I always ask what kind of wood is that...how much you bought that furniture?...I lift it to see how heavy etc...its rather frustrating hehe
  2. Step into a wooden house full of furniture and start measuring to see how many guitars it can make
  3. Do you all look at the furniture in the house with a different eye or is just me? I seem to adentify grain patterns ,flame below the finish...I often knock on them just to sound check them.
  4. All the strings to be tuned down by a full step or even more if it can be aranged without detuning..just a switch.
  5. Can you put a systen on the guitar where you flick a switch and the pitch drops like it has been downtuned?..I know there is a simulator on pedals but can it be put onboard a guitar?
  6. Yeah thats true..the whole guitar vibrates as one system and not as an individual part..that would mean every time you played anything it would fall appart due to diferences in resonance... never thought it like that before..oh well live to learn.
  7. I was thinking for some time now to glue on the neck of my guitar a piece of fabric...silk probably. Glue it on top of the finish. I just want to see how "silky" smooth the feel of the neck would be after that... What do you think?
  8. I feel the same way..so im thinking of cuting the neck in almost half width and join it with the rest of the body...something like a bolton that covers the whole guitar.
  9. From what i read oak is prety close to maple and since I might have a good suply of oak it would be preferable. I might go for rosewood since this guitar is ment for classic rock and blues sounds, altho the more versatility the better. BTW those alembic guitars are beatifull. I want them!
  10. Im planing to make an electric this summer..it will be my first one so I must prepare alot of things in my mind. Im thinking to make an SG and the body will be mahogany (suprise suprise ) Now I plan it to be a neckthrou and the neck will consist of diferent woods. Im thinking to laminate together ebony ,purple heart and oak. Hopefully it will be like this : Oak|purpleheart|ebony|purpleheart|Oak For the fretboard im still not too sure...Im thinking ebony or rosewood. From the guitar I would like a very warm tone with a nice blend of highs and treble and a good portion of mids. I now let it to the hands of you the masters to answer my humble request BTW, please write any favourite wood combinations you have so as to keep them in mind.
  11. Im thinking of using mahogany body and laminating and glueing together ebony for center of neck and purpleheart wood on it on both sides and further on oak to both sides of neck. (Im not 100% sure about oak yet). Btw it will be a neck throught. What do you think?
  12. What effect does it have to the guitar tone/sustain etc by glueing alot of pieces together? multipiece neck and body that is.
  13. I used all known measurments I could take. I always ended up on the same scale lenght so I was correct...I couldnt have made the same mistake 5 times.. Now im not so sure for the other plan I used at the xerox machine to magnify it to actual size. I tell you when I use the ruler its ok but when I stare at it is seems small. Can you help me by telling me some SG body lenghts that are a fact? you see I cant use the scale length since its the body that Im treating and not the neck.
  14. Is it just me or do the plans on paper always look smaller than the actual guitar. Even on one to one scale...(life size) Im planing to make an SG and I made the plans on cartboard to life size so I can plan ahead before cutting any wood.Altho on ruler it all seems ok when I look at it it seems a bit smaller than actual. Im begining to question my scale calculations and I wont be suprized if Im wrong...I used the printout from the gibson site...I measured from the nut till the 12th fret and formed a scale upon which I made the body plans. If anyone has real values of size of an sg please help me out. (btw hello this is my firt post here ) Andreas.
