  1. I've been shooting 2-part poly (Xtreme clear coat) 3-4 coats nightly, and sanding in between. I now have about 14-16 coats of clear on the body (the first couple were pretty light, and the last 9 or so have been wet coats. I sanded everything last night with 1000 grit and applied 3 more coats. It's got a beautiful sprayed gloss, and very minimal texture now. My question is, when is it "enough" clear coats and time to final wet sand and polish?

  2. I've done a material (cloth) finish on an Ibanez and have brushed on about 3 good coats of sanding sealer (Deft's). I've noticed that there are 3 small "dots" where there either wasn't good glue coverage (Titebond orig.), or the sanding sealer has raised the material - I'm not sure. I've already lightly sanded with 400 grit paper to the rest of the guitar top, but I'm not sure what to do about these small "bubbles". Should I lightly sand around them and then seal again, or should I leave it alone until Clear Coating? They're probably only "raised" 1/32 of an inch or less, and I'm afraid to sand through the material if I continue. I plan on Clear Coating with 2-part auto clear, if this makes any difference.

  3. Starting my first Ibanez refinish. It's an RG 570 that I've done the monkey grip and lion's claw as described in the tutorials. Question is, what tremolo model should fit (Edge, Edge II, Edge III, Lo-Pro, etc.)? If multiple styles can fit, which is better and why? Thanks!

    The Original Edge.

    Thanks, RGman.

Original Edge only? Is this because of the post anchors, cavity size or all of the above? How does the edge compare with the other models?
