Many apologies metalcarver, I have inadvertantly hi-jacked your thread with all this talk of aluminium, or aluminum, depending on where you are from.
I say again, great guitar. No, wonderful guitar. Very very cool.
-
Great guitar, poor spelling.
"Aluminium" is the correct way to spell that word. There is no such thing as "aluminum". Damn Americans, corrupting a perfectly good language...

People aren't put off by long posts. Not the ones who stick around anyway. Oh, and for your electronics woes, you may want to give the Electronics section a whirl, you may have more luck with that particular concern.
-
Bottom left of your post, theres little buttons you can click. One has two little heads and the letters "PM" on it. There is that on everyones posts. Click on the one belonging to the person you want to PM.

Give it time. You've planned for months, you can wait a day or two longer to find out how to iron out these problems.
-
You'd have to get singles. But that's not that big a problem.
EDIT: Or a set for a 7 string and one lower/higher string.
-
Kevan - I didn't mean an official 8 string Floyd Speedloader, I just had a thought since unclej brought it up, that yes, an 8 string floyd would be alot of work, and maybe making an 8 string speedloader would be a better plan.
-
I missed that one Drak, nice catch
-
On the other hand, what about an 8 string Speedloader?
-
I don't think I've posted in this thread, so here goes.
1st guitar - Peavey Raptor. Cheap Strat clone. I sanded the neck a bit, and I swear, the thing plays like butter. I'm looking forward to having the money to strip the everything off the body and neck and putting good electronics, pickups and hardware on it.
-
I don't see any reason why it couldn't. I suspect that there just isn't enough profit in the market to justify Floyd Rose making one like that of their own.
-
Pignose already make a travel sized guitar with an amp in. Go to www.pignose.com and check out their products, and then go to Electric guitar, and click Original.
-
What do you think of the steer head one I'm getting having "Steer clear" or some other pun like that in it's name. Like "Steer clear of Draks WOD"
-
Check the main site for tutorials, and in the tutorials section in the forum, cos I'm sure there's a tutorial for it somewhere.

Lookin' good! Lookin' real good...

Hi,
I saw a picture once of a guitar which had been changed from a normal 6 string strat into a 12 string strat. Can't find it now, could have been on MIMF or even here, can't remember.
He just changed the bridge over, left the 6 regular tuners on, and added 6 more around the edge. He may have reinforced the back of the headstock with something, can't remember. Anyway, it didn't look the best, but I guess it's an option, something to think about anyway.
I've drawn a REALLY quick picture of what it sort of looked like.

Hey Drak, what were your plans gonna be for the Steer motif one anyway? Sorry if you mentioned in a thread, but it was so long ago.
-
Spirit, it's your lucky day my friend.
The wood pile was getting out of hand around here, and I just went thru everything and made a big junk pile to get thrown out, and El Blanco Diablo went in the trash pile.
But I haven't actually thrown everything away yet.
So it's yours.
Free.
PM me w/ your address and I'll send it to you F.O.C. unless you live in Guatamala or some far away land.
You're damn lucky I didn't WOD that sumbich.
PS, the steer head is not dead, I'm carrying that idea/motif/cutout/inlay over to a few of the new ones.
Are you serious?????
*Hopes Drak is serious*
-
Hey Drak, if you tire of Teles, can I get that one with the Steer head in it?
EDIT: Speaking of that Tele with the steer head, hows that one coming along, or is it "in the oven"?
-
Or have you tried another guitar?
-
Would a bigsby fit on the les paul body?
Yes. Gibson fitted some in the factory in the late 50's. Justin Hawkin's Signature LP has a Bigsby. I'll try and find a picture of an LP with a Bigsby, and of the required Bigsby.
EDIT: I think this is the required Bigsby. This one or the B5 or the B50.
http://www.bigsbyguitars.com/products_b500.html
EDIT 2: This be the Justin Hawkins Signature LP, as weilded by the man himself. Seems I was wrong about the Bigsby you need. Wait for someone who knows better to answer. Anyway, the link.....
-
Ah yes, Shamray. They do very good work, and reasonably priced too.
-
Just to clarify....the "V" is a "5" (number of strings). It will not be a flying V bass (would that be too huge or what?).
It's....not a giant Flying Vee Bass?????

This my first announcement, and it's unfortunate it should be a sad one. RIP John Peel. We will all miss you.
