  1. You can round off to 2 decimals and not really worry about any intonation problems. And 2 decimals, whether in inches or cm, is measureable with the right ruler. :D I've used different methods to mark those points on a piece of paper. Digital calipers are accurate enough. Spread them open until the number shows and then mark it along a straight line, repeat the process with each fret. It takes a bit of patience and you must be consistent. By far the most accurate is with ACAD. I actually draw the entire fb in CAD right down to 3 decimals and do 2 "print screens" in actual size on 8.5"X11" paper. Result, when taped together is a perfect fretboard template ready for overlaying and slotting.

I've got a program called wfret it prints out tmplates with lines for each fret, I'm not sure how accurate it is I haven't measured it yet but if anyone's interested I could probably email it, it came free with some plans or something.

My fret calculator comes from www.gedgreen.co.uk it can print out in either metric or imperial with any selected scale length and number of frets

You can then lay the printout directly on the fretboard and mark out the fret positions - Keith

  2. Thanks for all they replies. I probably will go with the B50 since it has that beefier look to it. The lack of a tension bar on the B3 would definitely take away from the whole tele feel, and the B16 just doesn't have that vintage look. Now, I want the bigsby logo on it, not the fender logo. Where should I look for the best price? The most common I've seen is 150, but you never know if there's some random place that has it cheaper.

You should be able to get a B50 a fair bit cheaper than that if you browse around for a while. I find that searching google for prices can be helpful. Use the search term:

    Bigsby B50 $0..$150

and it will find the item with prices between those two values. Good luck! (I just tried it and found places that had it for like $75)

  3. This is a picture of my latest project

It consists of a body made from mahogany and pine!!! with the front and back routed out so that they are about 1/4inch thick with a central solid core down as far as the bridge

The neck was bought 2nd hand from a friend and is bolt on

    All hardware parts from AXESRUS

  4. This is my attempt at building a guitar. I found an old mahogany bookshelf in my loft and decided to give it a go. The wood was 3/4in thick so used it for the front of the body and was able to use mahogany ply for the back enabling me to hollow it out for better sound quality.

The bolt on neck was made from the same mahogany with a home made truss rod routed into the neck, and a curved fillet glued in to give the truss rod shape

The hardware came from Axesrus and consisted of a matched pair of humbuckers Wilkinson machine heads a string through bridge and jumbo frets

The fretboard (630mm scale length) was bought ready slotted but I radiussed it to a 12in radius curve.

The electrics came as a ready made kit similar to the Gibson SG but with the difference that the pickups were individually controlled when the selector switch is in the mid position

I don't know what anybody thinks of it, but I'm dead chuffed with it, and all I need now is to learn how to play the thing!!!!
