  1. Sorry about too many pics, I'll be graphically brief in future. Yes... "Shortened" means just that. Since the neck had no fretboard to start with, I took the excess off the heel and reshaped it. Then put on the fretboard. Setup the rest from there. The length of the neck was adequate for a 25.5 fretboard, just didn't want a 25.5 scale.
  2. Hi all, Well, this is my third build, but my first serious build. My first was at 14 (didn't know what scale length was ;P), and my second was my Stratotang (Strat body, Mustang neck). Since I'm genetically programmed for wierd shapes, I decided on a Flying V. 1.5 inch bookmatch maple with a .25 inch flame maple top. pic2 Mighty Mite hardtail, StewMac Golden Age Hots (tapped), Modulus Graphite neck. Another top shot. Minwax Ebony to highlight the flames, Sedona Red for color. Minwax Poly Clear to finish. pic3 Here's the back. pic4 The fretboard is rosewood 24.75 scale, which a stripped off a Cort flying V. I will be swapping it out for this one next month. pic5 I'll repost with the new fretboard when it's done. The neck was a 25.5 blank that I picked up off Ebay, and there's not too much info out there on graphite necks. I shortened it to 24.75 for slightly less string tension. If anyone needs info, let me know and I'll be more than happy to share what I learned. I didn't think to take any pics when I installed the threaded inserts, but when I swap fretboards, I'll shoot some pics and post them as well. It will give a clear idea as to what's involved to install one of these suckers. You CANNOT, I repeat, CANNOT just screw these on. You will regret the day you ever do, and cry yourself to sleep for the rest of your days. A HUGE thanks to everyone that contributes here. Without the info that I gleened here, I would have never mustered up the courage to attempt this.
  3. All great work, but since I'm a kid at heart I had to go with Digthemlows. It's important to support and nurture the next generation. Especially now that more and more of them are less and less manually adept. Nowadays, they can sure design a pretty 3D axe in Catia, but they can't figure out which end of a screwdriver to hold on to. Good on you guys...
  4. Just wish to say hello to everyone here at PG. I am in the process of finishing my first SERIOUS build, and this site was such a Godsend of info I just had to join in. I wish to thank everyone here for all the valuble info that aided me through my build. Three thumbs up!! I'll be posting pics of my project within the next week. Your input (comments, compliments, insults) would be more than welcome. Cheers,
