Is there an advantage to a variable speed bandsaw?

So the headstock thickness is 1/2"

I am still trying to figure out how much of a drop (offset) there is on the headstock, anyone know?

Could someone please give me the width measurements of a fender neck at the nut and at the other end of the neck (not sure the proper name for it)

I was looking at a 14" Ridgid for about $380. I will be mostly cutting ash and maple and some mohogany.

I am in debate again over a band saw. I have this Bosch jig saw, would I really be more happy with a 14" band saw. I guess I am looking for some advice of people who have both, and get your opinion.

So how thick should I make a neck blank?

What about Ash body and maple top?

Is there a reason I shouldn't use maple for both the top and body?? Also what about using 3 woods, top middle, and back??

I am looking online to buy some orbital sandpaper bulk, but am having a hard time finding a 5" 8 hole PSA, can anyone point me in a direction??

My problem is I would like a few other tools. I always have a hard time finding a jointer to use, so that is on my list, people always say a drill press is handy, so that is on my list, but maybe a band saw should be first on my list. I already have a decent router.

Is it worth spending the money on a band saw, or would I be better off getting a good jig saw??

I need some advice. I have some mahogany that is about 3/4" thick. I am planning on putting a maple top on top of the mahagany; my question is how thick a typical back is. I know it varies, but like on a Tele or Les Paul. The place I got the mahogany from has some that is about 2" thick, would I be better off getting that, or possibly gluing 2 pieces of the 3/4" together, I think if I did that, you could see a seam. Thanks for the info.
