i'd just like to add that i gig with a 60 watt 2x12 combo and i've never had a problem getting it loud enough. 60 watts going through a 4x12 will be perfectly fine.

there are fret placement calculators online. the sites of any of them escape me right now, but i know people on this site can recommend one. there's also some common scales in the back of melvyn hiscock's book.

i'd cut the slots and then profile it. i don't know how others do it though. 1/4" is a pretty standard thickness.

if you're using a hotrod from stew mac (which are extremely easy to use) then you just make one cut. all you need is a router table set up with a fence for the neck to run against. you mark on your neck where you want the cavity to end, and then mark on the fence (if it isn't already) where the bit ends.

i don't know about the bc rich rod though.

wow. i liked it before you did the headstock, but having that headstock match just pulls it all together for me. instead of looking like a premade neck put onto some random body, these look like they were meant for each other. very nice.

i like the new design a lot more. i still think you should compress it a bit so the string pull is completely straight.

i don't really have any ideas right now other than making the claw smaller. i'll play around with some stuff later tonight and see if i can come up with something. i'm not very good with headstock designs though (which is ironic, since i'm very picky about what i like in a headstock).

if you're going to paint it a solid color, you could always just carve through the top.

eh i'm not liking that headstock so much. when doing a 4x3 (or any non symmetrical configuration) a straight string pull design is a must IMO. other wise the strings get spread out weird and throw the look off (for me at least).

and the claw still looks a bit thrown on to me. it looks like you had a decent design going, and then just decided to throw that onto the end to make it metal.

killing? what precisely does killing involve? if you're talking about actually destroying the guitar, i would be more than happy to take it off your hands. i'd hate to see all that work just get killed.

i really like the design except for one part...

the part that i circled in red i think should just be a smooth curve rather than having it go out and back in. the guitar has a very sleek look, and that horn is just too beefy IMO.

otherwise i like it.

With all due respect that is utter, utter rubbish.  The upper and lower bouts are different dimensions.  The PRS has an egg shaped arse, whilst the Gibson's is round.  The PRS has a longer body.  Identical my arse.  The Eclipse is far closer in shape, with the only significant difference being the cutaway - likewise the Agile.

well unfortunately i don't have the ability to duplicate the silhouettes that i described (paint is the only imaging program i have), but just about everything matched up perfectly.

and evidently having the cutaway different is enough to satisfy gibson.

ON th eGibson issue, he may not be able to do much in overseas sales, but look at the extreme burocracy that happened when they made PRS pull all the Singlecuts out of the market.  And the PRS don't even looks like a LP like the Agile does. But why? Because PRS is a much better instrument than the Agile and is a more strong adversary!

There are so many differences between the 2 that it's not funny.  Why don't Gibson goes against ESP for the eclipse!!! There is a lot of liitle strings that are pulled in this copyright stuff that you need a doctors to understand it well.

having seen an image of a prs singlecut silhouette over a les paul silhouette, yes they do (did) look that much alike. the outlines are close enough to identical that the difference is negligable.

and gibson didn't sue agile because kurt from rondo music changed the design before gibson felt the need to resort to legal action.

as for going after the eclipse: the lower horn is clearly different than a gibson's. gibson could go after prs because the shape was EXACTLY the same.

i love the blue too. the dark one was great too, but lightened up like that the quilt really pops out.

it's absolutely beautiful. i love the chrome pickup rings with the pickup covers. it would've looked better to me with matching stain on the headstock though. (nitpicky detail, guitar is gorgeous)

wow. straight on the LED would look ALMOST as good as the fiber optic if it wasn't so big. from the side there's no contest. that fiber optic marker looks amazing.

i'm looking forward to seeing a finished guitar with these.

there's a tutorial on the main site where a guy shows how he made a neck using a hand saw to cut the profile and headstock angle. i can't remember if he tapered it with the hand saw though.

just a cosmetic change, but i'd switch out the knobs. white on natural wood doesn't look good to me.

i tried it once. and hated it. i love lots of tension.

and the other thing i really hated about it was that it made the downward pressure on the bridge next to nothing. unless i had lowered my tailpiece or raised my bridge i could've probably popped a string right out of its saddle if i did a big bend.

i can't wait to see that 8 stringer made.

that thing's incredible. i think it'd look good with just a clear coat over that. paint is just gonna detract from the look it's got going on.

the ibanez are basically the same thing but in an RG shape. perhaps they like RG's.

i'm not a fan of LED's, but if you're gonna use them i'd suggest amber like skibum said.
