in a way the two are quite alike though......we are drawn in by a guitars looks, then we find out about it's playability right?

so ..ya guess i'll look elsewhere then
lock er up mods

it's a thread about making a crybaby not modding one
i don't like hijacking threads
-
i'm interested in making my crybaby true bypass and maybe messing with the sweep range or anything to make it sound better
hopefully someone else might find this useful too
so ya, would be great if you could post some links, tuts or ideas or whatever
thx

there has been a topic on it somewhere...
ya i'm very interested in this also
if you come across a place to buy it in Aus let me know,
-
don't let it get ya down,
i'm sure many people on here have had failed guitars
it's all about learning
-
edit: didn't know it was still the same day for the americans
-
thanks man, yeah i'm gonna try to turn it into a qualityish instrument
gonna give it a good setup, clean/sand down the neck ...etc
-
lol that's always the way it goes
but never fear, once you get that hardware the world will be at peace
-
do you know of any? types of paint i mean
(so i can avoid them for this and future projects)
thx folks

ya it's good to think of the backing defining the mode not you
like if you play Eminor over a Gmajor backing your not playing Eminor anymore
if the backing changes you change even if you don't literally change shapes
and remember modal tonality, there's certain notes in each mode which make the mode, the characteristic notes that sound distinctly ..lydian together or whatever mode your using
they're the other defining force in mode choice
i think wylde sounds far more knowledgable on this than me though
-
hey i see it now! very nice man, did you use the borax swirl tut?
i 'll be swirling soon too so thx for the inspiration
-
les claypool just rocks out sooo well

i still can't see it

Fantastic were instant einstiens! haahaha
w000t
lol
i had to edit my post before cos of little forum grammatical ideas, does that reduce instantaneouseinsteinability?

Actually that a really good point KI. Im thinking from the in progress side, but still I have to say your right!
yeah your right about the in progress stuff, but they don't really need to be pinned, so it wouldn't matter too much.
if an in progress thing finishes up and is kinda tutorial like, a tut version that's cleaned up could be put on the main site, and the forum would still be free of overpinning
-
Why not just extract the pertinent content and/or link to Frenzy's cleaned-up tutorial on his own site? I would say leave the thread how it is, but put cleaned-up tutorials in the tutorials section of the ProjectGuitar main site. Maybe set up sub-sections there for solidbodies, hollowbodies, electronics, finishing, etc. that reflect the structure of the forum. Then pin a link to the archives in the forum sections.
The main site should be for static and archived information, and the forum the place for discussion. Using the forum for archiving useful content will result in pages of pinned threads at the top of every section.
this is one of the best and least conflicting posts i've read yet
don't know about you guys but when i want a tut i always go to the main site first
thats what the tut section's for
on other forums it's annoying in the same way as people hate sigs when you open a forum section to see 9 or 10 pinned tutorials at the top. it seems cluttered and your not always sure where to go to get the info your after, it'd suck to see PG forum like that
Painting a solid color
in Inlays and Finishing Chat

ok well, basically from my limited understanding
you'll need sanding sealer first to seal the body, then a primer coat (usually white), then your actual colour, then the clear afterwards
and after a coat of anything you want to do a little sanding with very fine wetsanding paper to get it flat again, and then you may want to put on more coats
i believe the clear usually has between 3 and 10ish coats sometimes plenty more
and the colour paint you just need a few coats until you get a solid enough colour out of it, oh and the sanding sealer, maybe 2 or so? just til you know it's thoroughly sealed
i'm probably wrong, someone correct me
oh, and just let me know any words you didn't understand, i'll try and explain them
