  1. I think it looks awesome! I am new to this guitar design and building, and trying to learn all i can.... but i think it is very original! That is what makes this seem like such an awesome hobby to me. I cant wait to get started. Be sure to let me know how the build goes... as I learn a lot from pictures and learning points. Later buddy.

  2. Doug.... That helps a ton. I am just learning to play... and plan on taking lessons when i return to Sd, as well as trying to find a fellow builder who is willing to show me the ropes. I thank you for the support, and will definately be keeping you posted.

  3. I am looking to learn more about guitars before i begin building them.... so I can do it right. I have learned a lot.... but am looking to learn more about the scale lengths, etc. I will be looking everywhere on google until i get home to my newly ordered books and dvds. I appreciate the help

  4. Sweet.... so i have made up my mind, and want to do an electric for my first project. Money is not an issue.... and from what i have read.... practicing the techniques on cheap wood first is a good thing. I am just wondering, what is the difference between all these different types of electric? (Strat, Les Paul, Tele, etc....) I am still learning all of this..... as I have never been in a music class or anything. I recently started learning the guitar, and plan on taking a couple classes when i get back to the states. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx! :D

  5. Hmmmm.... I need to make up my mind, hahaha. I am ordering the book right now, but wont be able to study it for about a month or so. Maybe i will flip a coin. I know they are different, and i really just want to create one of each. Maybe i will start with an electric until i get my own workshop with all the proper jigs for an acoustic build. I just want to give it my all, and then learn from mistakes and good things. I will keep a build diary for every project. It will make it better for me, and help with other builds, as well as experience to hand down here. :D

  6. Thanks fellas. I have already begun my reading and learning on this site, as well as taking some notes. MK.... I checked the link on your current project, and it looks very clean and professional. I can see that jigs help a lot. I am going to have to acquire some of those. :D I really want to start with an acoustic, and have already started looking at a few tools (steam iron, etc...) I like the simpleness without electronics for now.... and then get into that later. I want to make my first project a test piece, and build my skills up with it. I am looking to incorporate a lil designing, some mixed woods (like MK,s neck piece), and some original inlay pieces. I have noticed they really make the guitar. I have been here for lil over 5 hrs, and I already love it here. :D Thx again fellas!

  7. First of all, it was nice to find a site to learn from... and enable myself to find info, and maybe a few friends. My Name is Buz, and I am currently deployed in Iraq with a Navy SF Team. I will be home in April, and have found that I want to build a guitar. I am unable to really do much out here, however, I have been doing a ton of :D about it. I have been keeping myself busy with some woodworking (right now i am carving a ring out of Purple Heart for my wife) but there is only so much one can learn without a mentor of some sort. I am still learning about music, and trying to learn to play the guitar.... let alone trying to figure out the parts of a guitar and what makes them tick. I am slowly starting to get it... a lil at a time. I am trying to figure out the difference between all the different types of electric guitars and what different parts (pickups/bridges/etc...) do. I am currently stationed in San Diego for the next couple of years, so if anyone is interested, I am an awesome student. :D I would love to learn all that I can from this site, and the experience here. Thank you for all your time... and help in advance. I hope to be at this for the rest of my years to come.

    Very respectfully,

    Buz
