Does anyone know how/if you can paint your hardware? I have a stop tailpiece, from a previous guitar, and to save some money i was just gonna paint it.
-
this is what i use, it's made out of leather, i bought 'em at my local music shop. sorry for the crap drawings.
-
Here is a pic of the headstock template with the tuners i got off of ebay. The tuners are satin gold on the part you turn and the rest is chrome, except for the nuts and washers, which are regular gold. They look pretty cool. I would have gotten all gold ones but they wern't in my budget. Sorry for the crap pic. it was taken with my sisters webcam.

I also wanted to know which you guys prefer for the jack. top or side? because i realized that i didn't put that anywhere in the plans. and if side, a recessed (strat style) or regular? and if top, recessed, or regular?

It's going good, I am in the process of modifying the headstock, and i need to get the body wood from my local saw mill. I'm taking pictures of the whole process with my friends digital camera cause his is better than mine. I won't get 'em on here soon though cause he is on vacation. and i don't have the software the goes with the camera. I have one question. Does anybody know where i can get pickup covers with custom art on them. Like on the bridge pickup on this ESP guitar? Or what kind of paint to use if you buy the regular EMG looking ones, and paint it your self.

ok, thanks

I've only done really simple wiring before (vol, pickup, output). where do you solder the ground wires to? (if this is a stupid question, I'm sorry )
-
thanks russian, that helps alot.
-
it selects either the neck or bridge pickup. no combination of the two.

Hi, I have this in the in progress and finished section for my new guitar, but no one has responded there. So I thought somone here could help me. Could anyone draw up a diagram for 2 humbuckers, 1 volume pot, an output jack, and the On-On mini switch number EP 0081-003 i bought from Universal Jems
Thanks in advance

I was just gonna use the LEDs in the headstock to light up the Batman logo. I was considering the other tailpiece, but i don't know if it would work because my design of the V is modified, and a bit longer than a regular V. But if I make my own, it would work. As for the wood, i knew there was no way that i was gonna find one piece of wood big enough for the whole thing. I'm thinking about doing what silvertone suggested, but making the center piece longer as to accomidate the nek pocket.
-
that might work, but on your drawing, the neck pocket isn't in a part of the wood.
-
yeah i'm gonna do that. Kinda like on a SG with the horns
-
it IS a V (maybe a little bit longer) I guess i gotta look around more to find a big enough piece (or pieces) of wood
-
it'll be fun painting the insides of the legs
and buffing
-
i need help finding a piece of wood big enough to fit my guitar on it (19 3/4 x 25 3/4) any specific places you guys go?
-
probably mohogany, or is that the one that is heavy?
-
yeah i like the 60's batman with adam west. i used to watch that show all the time.
-
Here is my idea. This way, since it's upside down, it would make sense for the web inlay on the fretboard cause the web comes out of thier @$$es. Pluse more room for controls, and access to high frets. A little flimsy looking, but you could get around that.
-
thanks russian, now i can put higher quality, and larger pics on here. YAY!
-
and how bout making the legs a bit thinner?
good idea
-
like this
that's what i was thinking. it would also be cool if the edges were beveled.
-
I'll be going for the ground shaking one But also somthing that i can get a mellower tone with but not too mellow.

do you know the process of stripping off chrome? If it's as hard as putting the chrome on there, (i've only seen it done on the discovery channel on american chopper) then i'm probably better off buying a new one.
