  1. Well, I shouldn't speak too loudly, since i've never done alot of work on a guitar, but here's what i've seen(on projectguitar.com tutorial i think)as far as cover plates.

plastic trash cans cut up to shape. Rout a small ledge(thickness of cover) to put screws into. Usually cans have a shiny sideAND a dull side, and lots of colors to chose. By the way, whatever happened to your destruction pix? :D

well keith gaz here ur guitar looks shite their but its class now (cause i sanded it).

Yeah ill Post Pictures of If Done Soon, Ill Use Me Dads Digital Camera Tomorow.

    Later Gaz.....

    The Smashed Guitar Has Returned.......:D

  2. well thanks, I already bought a black matte spray paint, so my question is? should I apply it lie that in th bare body of my guitar or Should I add some paint before, likea white base or something... :D

well i would of thought that You Could Put SOme Primer Down First and then start Your Spraying. But There are loads of people on this website that Could Help You.

What Is the Name/Make of the Matt Finish?

    Thanks................Keith

  3. Hello Lads.

Ive searched and looked around the Topics in this forum but I felt i needed to Start My Own Thread. I Bacicly Wanna know What Paints to Use, Primers, Weather Condidtions, etc.. (Bacicly Everything).. :D

Here's What i have done so far:

    1. Ive made a Explorer Style Guitar body from Beach Wood.

    2. Sanded the Body With 80 Grit Sandpaper

    3. Then Sanded at 180

    5. Then 360

    6. Then i finally Sanded the Body to 800.

It seems Pretty Smooth To Me But Im Very New To This.

Beach Wood Seems to Dint Quite Easily and there are serverl but not many Dints On the body, also very small dint's, you would not Notice these dints Unless you really Looks Close.

Am i on the Right Steping Stones to Painting the Guitar?

Im only 17years old and Have Very Little Experiance with painting.

    Thanks Alot

    Hope ye Can Help Me.

    .....Keith

  4. Hmm, im not sure cutting out the cavities from the back like that was such a good idea, because the pickups arent really "touching the wood" and wouldn't sustain/resonate very well.

I suppose it will have the same sort of thin jangly sort of strat sound... your guitar body is pretty much a front to back strat now that i think about it.

Also are you using a tremolo bridge as a hardtail?!

it sounds great becuase its very hollow compared to most guitars, so its very loud sound from it, im using a tremelo bridge on it yeah, im using it as a hartdtail, is that a problum?

  5. Well Im Back Again But Now Im 17 and The Guitar That Broke is Gonna Be Brought Back to Life, Ive Glued it Back Together and Looks Sweet, Ill Show Plenty of Pictures Later as i progress. Bacicly My Dad "Let it Fall" But its ok now ill Continue Working on it at the weekend cause got me Exams to do. :D

    Later Folks

Glad to Be back Guitar Making

  6. i dunno, i done a design on 3dstudio max and printed it on paper and printed 2 copies, so 1 for the routed in the guitar, and one for the wood i was oing to put into it, i cut 3 designs out of the wood and still "hardship". basicly it just wouldnt fit in.

give it ago anyways and see how you go.maybe you have got better skils than me.

but yeah it was hard to do a design that hard.

    ....keith,

BTW, wat design in the wood where you thinking of doing?

  7. hello all

Im making an Ibanez RG, so i need to ask ye guitar builders a few questions.

    My first Question is:

If you you look in the pictures you'll see that i have routed a design in the guitar body, roughly 5mm Deep, what i wanna know is, What will i fill the routed design with?

    Ok onto My 2nd Question:

Im doing a Sunburst effect on my guitar, so what things do i need to keep in mind, or what sprays,Paints,etc.. do i use?

    3rd One:

Im gonna laquer the body when im done, so what preparation do i need to do, before applying the laquer, and how do i apply it, and do i buy it in Sprays or Paints?

And where is a good website for Buying these resources?

If anyone has any idea's towards making the guitar, i would be very gratefull.

Here is how much wood i have:

    1.5 Ft X 10Ft. x 2Inches of Teak

    1/2Ft X 4Meters x 1/4inch Thick of Brazilian Walnut, (known as IPE)

    Loads of Pine!

oh and heres the pics, you'll have to copy and paste em' into you're browser.
