Is that LMII
-
well I realy want to have a low action and I cant file down the saddles as this is what Im looking at http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailp...ge.html#details
Is there much of a difference between a 10" and 12" radius fingerboard when you play it. I have a 10" radiused fingerboard. Can someone tell me a popular guitar with a 12" radius that I could try out in a local guitar shop.

Ok a vineer sounds like a better way to go but whats the difference between a vineer and a laminate top. I know that a vineer is thinner generaly only about a milimeter or so. Would a 1/8" laminate effect the tonal properties of a mahogany body? The only vineer Ive ever worked with is that iron on stuff. Ive used it when making cd and hifi holders out of MDF. Any advice?

Just a quick question on the effects between having a different radiused fingerboard to a bridge.
I like the standard 10" radius on Gibsobs but the TOM Im looking at has a 12" radius. What effect will this have? Also I am cosidering using this with a mustang vibrato tailpiece. Will this have any effect on it?

I was just worried because dont you need the black paint to soak deep into the grain and if you use a thin piece of wood there is nowhere for it to soak into.
-
Its gonna be a swamp ash laminate so I take it that will work. Not sure if I understand the transcending thing.
-
There are a few topics on this already try searching for them.
It is painted black before filling the grain then you rub in the red grain filler. Itm not sure it works on most wood as they have to have open pours.
Any one know if it can be done on 1/8" laminate?
EDIT its generaly done on swamp ash not alder
-
Ok changed the idea a bit. If I make the laminates out of bookmatched swamp ash with them being 1/8" each that would leave the body 1 1/2" thick which is also the thickness for the neckpart going through the body will it be thick enough and strong enough at the neck/wing joint of the body?
Also a little off topic would the 1/8" wood be thick enough for a voodoo finish?

Alot of the time it works out jus as cheap to buy things from the US as the sterling is strong against the dollar and also stuff is generaly cheaper from the US as the shops in the UK tend to have to pay the shipping anyway to get the products from the companies themselves. Compare prices and see for yourself. www.xe.com has upto date currency conversion.

Dont need string tees but Ill do some research on the others things you suggested, almost sure stewmac sells them all. Thanks
Anyone else got any opinions?

Any thoughts on using a mustang tailpiece with a TOM?
What would bethebest nut and tuners to use with it to keep it in tune and how well does it keep in tune?
Ive read that they dont stay in tune very well (at all) if you use the vibrato. Would locking tuners solve his. If not what else would?
-
Sounds nice Ill have a look. Also I figure I was thinking last night that I should maybe have the 12th fret as a center and hace everything on either side be a mirror image i.e. the 3rd fret inlay will be a mirror image of the 21st fret inlay and so on.
Any thoughts?

No problem just a little confusede at the time.
-
So do you need to but in the brass/copper cant remember which one it was or can you just screww through the wood?
-
Yeah Ive been looking at that thread and keeping my eye on it. I posted in it aswel.

Sorry forgot to mention I want alot of sustain as well and I want alot of versitility

Hey,
just wondering if there is such thing as too much of a neck angle?
I am planning at the moment to put in a TOM. Im not sure what angle to cut the neck to (its gonna be a neck through) I currently have an epi g400 which has a 3degree neckangle and I realy like the feel of it.
Thanks

It will have a car amp probably but I want to be able to connect my guitar to the cars stereo so If I get a battery powered mini amp which cost about $50 here and figure out how to connect it to the stereo It can go as load as the car stereo?
Im not sure if you understood me properly.
Anyone have any advice for this?

I am wondering what to get aswel. I love TOMs with stop tailpiece and I dont want a floyd or any other floating bridge as I want to easily change tunings live and also quickly.
What would you suggest? I am considering the stop tail piece that stew mac sells but are they any good? Does it require much changing of the guitar?
How exactly does it fit on?
Thanks

I have another little question to do with car speakers and amps.
I was wondering if it would be possible to connect say a mini amp or something like that to a car stereo. Im saving money for a VW van and want to have a built in amp for road trips. Any thoughts?

Dont forget to keep the truss rod when you throw out that neck!
I dont like the monkey grip either its a bit of an eyesoar
-
Yeah I was just thinking it would be alot of work but then again if you refinishing it anyway it wont matter.
If you like it you saidd you were gonna change, why change what your happy with?
I mean your basicly just buying that guitar for parts. It would esentualy be a brand new guitar rather than a project guitar which you said it would be, wouldnt it?

How do you plan on "turning it into a neck through"?
Painting hardware?

Hi,
the tailpiece Im looking isnt available in black which I realy want as I dont think chrome or gold will suit the finish. Woul I be able to paint the tailpiece using car paint from a rattle can?
Thanks
