  1. You have some good gear suggestions on here and I wouldn't tell you anything different from what's already been posted but I do have one question. Are you honestly interested in bass or is your band basically forcing you to go that route? If you want to play bass that's great, bass is awsome, but if what you really want to do is play guitar, you're only going to be unhappy.

well it was my idea and all, and i've always wanted to learn some bass stuff. Although if I had a choice I would rather play guitar, it's not like i DONT want to play bass. also are there any risks or things to keep in mind with plugging into the PA?

  2. I decided to buy an Ibanez Gio Soundgear. I tried out a used Soundgear (non-gio) and it was the only one I could afford but the condition was bad. So I decided to look at new ones and they were all at least 350 at my local music store and previously I had tried out some used gio sound gears and I really liekd the sound and feel of them. I dunno if it was because they were in good condition or what but I liked them better than the used non-gio. So when I went to the music store I saw exactly what I wanted. The Blue-Burst flamed maple gio soundgear bass. check it out Holy mother and a half this bad boy was exactly what I was looking for and it was cheap enough for me to even get a gig bag. I've been palying it ever since I got home and its still as good as it was a the music store.

  3. when i ordered my MG100DFX from ebay it was a nightmare. I won teh auction and liek 2 days later i get an email from ebay saying the seller has been suspended for various reasons (never found those reasons out) and if possible to cancel your payment, and do not go throught with the purchase. I was going t ocancel the money order I sent them but I didn't have my copy of it I dunno what happened to it. So basically all I can do is wait and hope to god that i didn't get ripped off. So I waited for like a month and a half thinking that I Was ripped off and that I should start saving up to buy another one. Then right at 2 months I finally got the amp in the mail. I was happy and kind of pised at the same time.

  4. dont schedule a gig 2 weeks away before you even have a full band. (I did that and it worked out fine, because we found more members for the band and got a bunch of songs learned and practiced but it was way too stressful and annoying)

also, if you dont have time or money for strap locks, a big fat washer instead of a normal strap button works wonders.

  5. I saw him again tonight. He played voodoo chile for like 20 minutes. It was nuts. I think he really is better than SRV. But then again I never saw SRV live, so what I'm comparing are the recorded SRV to the live KWS. Better than SRV or not, it was definitely killer in so many ways.

  6. make sure the wood in the strat copy isnt bad though (e.g. plywood, etc.)

How would you go about that? :D

What I was meaning to say (now that I look at it, it wasnt a very good representation of what I was tinking) was don't go too cheap because if you do, sometimes the quality of the guitar will have bad charactaristics that you won't be able to fix by getting better parts, such as bad wood, really high action, bad balance, etc. A few of those things can be fixed, but not by getting better parts.

  7. Replace the jack, and make sure you wire the new one up correctly - my guess is that's where your problem is.

If I read what he said correctly, even if it was the jack, he didnt even have a hot wire soldered to the jack terminals. Could it be that the "ground" your connecting to the pickup screw is sending a hot signal to the "ground" and you connecting it to the wrong terminal of the jack (or maybe the jack is sending the "ground" from the screw to the hot conductor?)?

    Overview:

Try switching the terminals your connecting the ground to.

    or

Try not connecting the ground to the pickup screw. (BTW whats that for I've never heard of it)

    if niether of those work,

    Try replacing the jack.

  8. I think you might save some money and get a Rouge(here come the boos) from Musician's Fiend and hope you don't have to play bass too long

Thats the thing, I think I might start taking bass up seriously and I dont have the money to buy a "beginners" bass, then grow out of it and buy a "real" bass. Plus I'm playing gigs with this thing, I need it to be atleast semi-good.

  9. I agree with dave completely. He doesnt mean for one person to post a review on one product then noone else can, its almost like trying something out at the music store in my opinion. Because you have a variety of amps, a variety of guitars, and if your lucky you could find your exact setup in there.

But he's also talking about tool reviews, etc. which would help a lot also.
