heh, thanx everybody! I just shielded up the guitar and changed my cable (there's still a small noise due to overdrive saturation and reverb, but no one would hear it while I play ...) thanx!

hi anyone who's reading this. I just bought a guitar and a speakerbox (with distortion, reverb, clean sound etc). The guitar have two single coils and a humbucker (in this order, from bridge to neck: H S S). I noticed a small "hiss" and sometimes a "hum" depending on the pickups I'm using. Is there any way to make a circuit that filters these noises and take 'em out? thanx in advance.

soldering a wire to the bridge? Kinda weird... anyway. I had to solder a wire to a chrome piece once too (but it wasn't a bridge). I sanded it... nothing, I scratched it... nothing. Then i tought that something to fix it would be nice. I soldered the wire normally, then took a eletronics adhesive and put ove the solder, then, with the soldering iron still hot, burned a little the adhesive (so it stayed on the place ). Anyway, hope it helps! C ya!

the hum remains... we have the same problem man. If u know more eletronics than I do, check Guitar Eletronics, they have something about Out-of-Phase that takes the hum off when using two SCs. hope it helps (again ). c ya!

Anyway, I'm hanging out with some OPAMPS (LM741, anyone?) and clipping diodes (Germanium, Sillicon...) so I can understand them. For LuKeR: it's the Big Muff's clone. BTW: can u answer me this:

I've used a LM741 do get the input (+). The signal going out of the minus pin (-) pass by two diodes (the top one pointing forward, and the other backwards) and going to the output pin. Not even the guitar sound comes out , but if I use a transistor (BC549) I can hear what radio my neighbour is listening to. Thanx in advance.

Hmm, I'll not get into details of the wiring method. Looks like u are using two singlecoils (since ur humbucker is broken, so, for me at least, there's no need of connecting him if it doesn't work). I have a guitar (that I made myself) with two singlecoils, wich I connected in parallel mode. I have some "hiss" on the background. You hum may be causing because of one of these:

1. the hum gets louder when you touch the bridge or the strings? If yes, then take of the wire that leads to the bridge, just cut it off on the middle of the way

2. the hum is there (and loud) touching or not the bridge? Then check the wiring.

3. the hum is very low and dissapear when you touch any metal piece in contact with the volume pot? Try grounding it someway.

I think that "H S S" stands for "Humbucker Single Single" dont? You can try Guitar Eletronics or Seymour Duncan wirings. Hope it helps . c ya!

Hmmm, four wires, it's a humbucker dont? Well, if you have some ability, you can (dont do it unless you're sure of what you're doing!!!) take four wires and solder each one with the four that comes from you pickup. Anything just ask. c ya!

Hi guys! I'm goin nuts with this problem (though they are simple...):

1. I gotta wire a simple guitar with two single-coils, a volume pot and a tone pot, and last, a ON-OFF-ON switch. I looked at Seymor Duncan wirings, wich leads to another problem:

2. What is that thing on SD wirings soldered on the switch (it looks like a bobin for me)?

can I just take the SD wiring of 1 single, 1 volume and 1 tone, then put the other pickup in parallel with the other? that would solve the prob.

haha! A loose cover of a tunner. I wonder how can a cover make so much noise? Imagine playing the E string (zero fret) and hearing a "kadshshshshs" along with the sound. Well, problem solved. Thanx everyone. C ya!

hmmmm, hard to say where it comes from but, the headstock is where i can listen it louder. The idea of something loose was in my head too. PS: I'm in the 2nd part of the tutorial.

Hi! I've just went to the forum, and I'm having a little problem with my guitar. It is making some noises (like unwanted vibrations) while playing some frets on the E string and the G. Any idea? Warped or bowed neck? Bridge? Thanks and c ya!
