  1. I checked carvin and they only have 22 fret necks and 24fret neck through, like the one from stew mac.
  2. If I'm reading the measurements properly the heel is about 1/64" larger then 2 3/16". The nut is 1 5/8". I'm not sure about the neck pocket specs since I haven't removed the neck yet. If that would help I will remove it.
  3. I've been wanting to change my washburns pos 24 fret neck for a while. I mainly want to change it cause the fret work sucks and I want a different headstock, maybe blank so I can make my own, or something similar just with a my own logo on it. The thing I need help with is that I cannot find a bolt on neck for it. And I can't find any on eBay that's not a used Ibanez or ESP, which I don't want, simply because I don't want a neck that has been used. All i'm able to find are these: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bodies,_necks,...uitar_Neck.html I need a bolt on version not neck through. And these from warmoth: http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/necks/necks....board_extension I would love to get the warmoth one cause I hear warmoth is the best place to get replacement parts, the thing is it's a fretboard extensions without the heel being extended. Heres a costomers guitar for an example http://www.warmoth.com/gallery/Images/Solo...sonfrench2m.jpg and here's mine As you can see from the dust I don't play it much Would I even be able to put that type of neck on my guitar? Would I have to make some kind of heel extension and glue it to the new neck or glue it in the actual neck pocket or something like that? Is that even possible or practical? Any ideas? Keep in mind I'm also planning on repainting it and possibly doing some light body work so if I choose this type of neck and glue in another piece of wood it will be getting painted. Thanks in advance for the help.
  4. I've been reading up on potting pups and I have a few questions about it. First question, I have an Epiphone vintage sg400, could I benefit from potting my stock pups, could it effect my sound that much, or should I just spring for some new ones? Second question, I've read that pups with the chrome covers can be submerged with the covers on them. That sounds a bit weird to me, does that mean my pup covers will have a layer of wax on them, and should I remove that wax after its done or leave it on. Last question, I don't have any experience soldering or doing any type of electrical work on guitar. Is it fairly easy to take everything a part and put it back together? My dad is a very experienced welder and an amateur electrician, should I get him to do all the soldering, or is it pretty straight forward. Thanks for the help.
  5. I have a problem with my epiphone hardtail style bridge, the screw that you use to set the intonation is loose on the B string. It doesn't come up when plugged in but its still annoying if I wanna play un-plugged. How should I go about fixin' it. Thanks for taking the time to read this thread.
  6. Does anyone know how hard it is to install a varitone selector switch here's what one looks like if you never seen one http://store.yahoo.com/torresengineering/delvartonful.html I was planning on putting it in a epi sg400 vintage. Also does anyone know any good sites for a step by step instruction to intall it.
  7. I have this old electric hofner bass thats looks like a fender Jazz style bass guitar. I was wondering if I would be able to convert it to an electric guitar by routing out the neck to make more room for a larger guitar neck. Its a 21 fret neck with the heel at 2" exactly, the bridge is like a gibson type stopbar and action adjuster in front of it, would I be able to convert it or would the body be too big. I could post pics if that would help you to help me. Just try to be specific on what you would want to see in the pictures to make it easier for you.
  8. I think its a hofner, its says hofner on the headstock but theres no serial number on it at all, i checked everywhere even on the base of the neck the neck(not too many places it could hide hehe). Its sort of fender jazz bass looking guitar, used to have two humbucker one very close to the neck about an inch away and the other by the bridge. It had a flexible plastic covering that peeled off and tore so i removed it completely, it was white on the top and black on the bottom sort of snake skin or alligator skin looking plastic. the only numbers i found where underneath the neck it said E 2. So i realy don't know if its actually a hofner bass. My question is i have left over glue on the body and i was wondering what would be the best way to remove it and make ready for paint, also if you have any information about this paticular guitar. I will try to get some pics if that would also help. Thanks a million for your help.
