  1. I forgot to say this, if you can play the guitar before you buy it, do it (this goes for every guitar). The biggest fault I have with Ibanez guitars is their tendency to have itty-bitty "shredder" necks which can be uncomfortable for those of us with bigger hands. The S series of guitars also has that uber-thin body which takes some getting used to.

I agree with this...I played an Ibanez for about 4 years (until it was stolen). After that I went to playing American Standard Strats and Les Pauls. The necks are much more comfortable for my large hands.

  2. My opinion:

Drums: Horrible, the snare sounds like it's a 2" piccolo being beaten with a redwood tree. The rest of the kit sounds terrible too. I can record better sounds in my basement.

Guitars: Weak. no solos, why is Kirk Hammet there? If there are no solos, James Hettfield can play by himself.

    Bass: Unimpressive.

Lyrics: Ridiculous. Even some of the high school kids around here write better lyrics than this crap. "I'm madly in anger with you, I'm madly in anger with you, I'm madly in anger with you." What the hell is that?

I loved Metallica when I was growing up. I still listen to Kill 'em All, Master of Puppets, ...Justice, and yes even the black album. I think everyone should just download the album to piss Lars off. I usually don't condone downloading music that isn't given out by the artist. But in this case, don't waste your money.

  3. Hey there everyone! I'm pretty new around here and I'd like to get your opinion. My band has just been selected as one of the Editor's Picks on The Washington Post MP3 site. If you have the time check it out and let me know what you think. I'd love to get the perspective of some fellow players...

I actually have two bands listed on the site. "Urthgirl" was the one chosen by the editor, and "The Urthmen" is my other band. Check 'em both out. You can also go to our websites, they should be up and running tonight or tomorrow. We've had some changes in the bands and are changing the sites.....

    Rock on!

  4. I definately use my volume knob, not so much the tone knob. I rewired a strat so that I have an active pickup in the bridge position and passive pickups in the middle and neck positions. So, in that case I use the volume to control the gain difference between passive and active. It also allows you to adjust the amount of gain from your guitar giving you control over the distortion level on your amp. So, I guess what I'm saying is I would keep the volume if it were me. :D
