  1. I have a gooffy question (I'm going to install a tele bridge).................when you measure the neck to find out the scale, you measure from the nut to the 12th fret wire or to the middle of the actual wood between frets to find the mid point?. Thanks a million
  2. As per your suggestion..Weld-on #5 or #16. Due to weight concern and other random factors it's going to be a thinline tele so there's going to be two chambers....I don't know if I can cut the f holes neatly tho'....I'll have to go slow..... Thanks again Sumphead Aharon
  3. Cut template today in the shape of a tele, looks ok, will use it to cut the body with the router. When I have that done I will post a pic so I can get some feedback. Thanks Aharon
  4. Bought wood today.....nothing fancy....poplar. This is my firrst guitar after all,did not want to go all out with the fancy woods....yes I know,I should not be experimenting with plastics before I get a decent wood guitar built but I could not resist. Will keep you posted and when I get something resembling a guitar together I'll post pics. Aharon
  5. Ok,things are looking good...........I cut the plastic today in two and it went flawlessly,no melting,no saw marks and very little dust. I guess regular tools will work after all. Step two,get either a cad or a template. Aharon
  6. Thanks for all the info,it's been an invaluable help....... That idea of the diferent color plastic instead of the wood really hit the spot. I'll see what I can come up with. Thanks Aharon
  7. Sumphead, thanks again for pitching in. The sheet is 30X23X3/8 and is bare,no way to know for sure what it is. The material seems very hard, maybe there's a scratch test or something I can do to find out what it is,at least an approximation. Aharon
  8. MAple in the middle.......I don't have enough plexi..... Regular router bits won't cut through plexi?.......what do I need to buy then........ Aharon
  9. Thanks for all the replies guys. Sumphead, that was also my concern, how to glue it together..... I will keep you posted as it comes along, now I need a piece of maple which I'll get locally. Whish me luck. Thanks and keep the ideas and/or tips comming ....... Aharon
  10. I just got a hold of a large chunk of lucite. I was thinking of making a one of a kind using this material, actually a sandwich of lucite and a plank of maple in the middle. HAs anybody tried anything similar?. Pros/cons/caveats................. Thanks Aharon

    Gfs?

Got it!!.Sounds a lot more focused, brighter with cleans and less splatter with distortion. Simple if you've done it before,I did not want to screw up the guitar...anywho, just in case somebody wants a step by step look here: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/document?do...mp;src=3SOSWXXA Aharon

    Gfs?

What's the best way to do this? HAve done a lot of strats but never an LP.I guess, the connection at the switch,I'm not sure how the guitar is wired, there's a couple of clip on connectors inside the control cavity. Please advice. Thanks Aharon

    Gfs?

Personally, I think darn near anything would be better than those stock Epi pickups (but that's just me...). All the GFS pickups I've heard sound pretty good, and are great value for the money - sure. you can buy better, but not for the price! Out of curiosity, are you the Aharon that hangs out over at AX84? Thanks again for the advice. So that's it,I'm changing the pups,Gibby on the neck and the GFS for bridge. Yes ...that's me, same Aharon from the Ax84. Hiyadoin'? Tx Aharon

    Gfs?

I have an Epiphone Standard LP,my one problem with it is the pups sound kind of muddy to my taste. I have a Gibson from a 335 and a GFS Fat PAF bridge. The Gibson I know will be ok but do you guys think the GFS would be an improvement over the stock Epi? Thanks for any tips /help. Aharon
  16. Ok,I got some answers from another forum, some Charvels used to come with Seymour Duncans earlier on,then Reflex and then the EVH came with Gibson/Fender?............. I just have o find out which ones I have. They are not active....... Thanks Aharon
  17. Does anybody know anything about Charvel sc pickups, the ones that are sealed with epoxy, black with white lettering (Jackson/Charvel)? I read somewhere that some Charvel pups were actually made y Gibson and Fender....was that always the case, how do I find out ,who made the others? Thanks Aharon
  18. Shred....you are right ....whatever it means but i agree with you completly,I like clarity and a little brightness. Maple is looking good!!! Aharon
  19. I have an LP for classic rock stuff but for shred (as if I could) I have this LADO strat. Aharon
  20. As I suspected...the bridge is the culprit.Maybe I'll get "brown" sound once I'm done hahahaha. http://www.kahlerparts.com/Part_Pages/T_2320.htm I need a new body for it ,laminate is shitze anyways. Thanks to all for your help. Aharon
  21. Really?...........let me do some research then.....thanks for the tip. Aharon ← Well, acording to DiMArzio(as well as other less reputable sources)the X2N is rather trebbly....... Aharon
