In a little dispute with someone.
Is spalt maple used in thick tops?
Does it have the tonal characteristics of Redwood?
Would a veneer of spalt maple be "uniformly seen as a cheap option to a real top"?
thanks
i know i could have used search, and i did, but i think a direct answer from you guys would help a little more

i use autocad 2004
its super expensive so you gotta get a 'hot' copy of it
i learned to use it in highschool so it was the most practical for me
-
it can be found, it's just that we are all forbidden from seeing it
-
yeah, its seriously a winner
there arent too many "one offs" i like
and i dont mean to toot my own horn, but my sentinel and matts impaler are the only "extreme" guitars i'd buy if i saw a company making them.
the impaler screams death metal but is restrained at the same time. doesn't go over the edge or get cheesy. love it.

ugh
well, in the words of the kid
"for $95 its still worth it for a practice amp"
-
oh yeah, and the bobbins on the pickup will be black/white with chrome casing too, fyi
and the paint scheme, though i thought it was original when i came up with it, ends up nikki sixx did the exact same thing to one of his t-birds back for the Home Sweet Home live music video. had a matching back too which is what i'm doing too...goddamnit....what are the odds? lol
i wish i could find a copy of that video, i wanna see it again. i just hapepned to watch it at like 2am when they were playing old 80s videos
edit: founds pics!

i dunno, maybe you're right
my bad

croaticum helped with this mock-up
i'm not having a go at this myself because if i try, it'll never get done, and i'm horrible at woodworking (and dont have the neccessary tools/equipment handy)
yes, i use Autodesk AutoCAD 2004
thanks for the compliments!

I believe Dime played on L500-L's, not the L500-XL. I was reading on the Bill Lawrence forum a while back that the Dimebucker was actually a copy of a PROTOTYPE that Bill and Becky had wound up custom for testing by Dime in a new signature Washburn guitar. They sent a few pickups to Washburn, known internally as the L500-L+, and about a year later after hearing nothing back from Washburn the Dimebucker was introduced by Duncan--an exact, wind-for-wind copy of the L+ prototype.
In short, Bill and Becky got screwed by Washburn. Understandably, Washburn probably figured out that B&B couldn't keep up with demand of the new guitar, so they "outsourced" to a bigger company. Probably why Bill decided to provided his "services" directly to Fender for the SCN and Danny Gatton pickups rather than just wind a few prototypes and let himself get screwed again by another big guitar company.
I have no doubt that the Dimebucker is a fine pickup for what it was designed to be and Duncan is worlds better than the Wajcman pickups, but if the story's true, I don't think I could really ever buy one.
dime played the L's and the XL's. he used a R/L combo on the CFH album and moved to XL after that.
the L+ is maybe the XXL, which is the prototype of which you speak (possibly) that was never released

isn't 3.5 a little toooo small?
-
well considering how long ago i started the design process, a few more months is alright..
i was originally supposed to have the plans to doug in september, so the delay is my own fault its fine though, NAMM is coming up and this gives me a little breathing room to jump on a guitar if i see one i just "have to" have :-p
as long as this turns out as i imagined it, then its worth the wait. i'll keep ya'll updated but it doesnt look like there will be too many updates in the next bit

If the jack is like the one on my rackmount tuner, it's just about impossible to fix, and very difficult to replace, since it's soldered directly onto the PC board. Grrrr.
yeah....regardless, the guy bought it
*counts cash*

paperclick didnt work, tiny screwdriver didnt work....damn thing wont bend back....grrr
and i think i got the hand of avoiding deathl stayed away from powersource w/ the screwdriver and didnt touch any caps or anything, its all screwed back together. the input jack is enclosed and i cant get it from the back...
-
well opening it up gave me no access to the jack, it seems to be enclosed so i'm gonna try sticking a paperclip in there and bend it back
and rhoads, hey, i gotta start somewhere

edit: now being made by Vadim Pashin of Shamray Guitars

Okay so I just agreed to sell my peavey bass combo to some kid for $100, but I have a problem, i'm getting a hiss from the thing unless i jiggle the input jack!!
the back says its dangerous to open, is this true? i think i just need to get in there and make sure the thing is connecting to the patch cable when it plugs in. i can see the jack connector in the hole and when its in normally its just not touching it at all times and this is causing the hiss.
is it safe to operate??

lol, its been put off again till tomorow morning
damnit
and no, i wont have pics for a while. i'm so incredibly behind in just about everything in life right now, lol. and doug here is making it, i just took for freakin' ever to finalize the design and overnight the template to him. i havnt talked to him in like a month and a half he probably thinks i bailed on the deal!
but yeah...tomorow....i wont sleep in....its getting mailed...
and i like the colors there! but mine will be trans black, white mult-binding, white stripes painted on it, body is white/black korina, block inlays, gold hardware, etc.
i needa shutup, it hasnt even begun yet...but as a testament to my commitment to this, i just sold off one of my guitars to make sure i have enough money to complete it
good luck on your project, dont get lagged behind like me!

them curves look realy tight when they get to the spikes, i like this design. lets hope it gets to fruitition, most V's on here never seem to get anywhere.
something tells me january is the month of the V!!!
haha, like mine
but in all seriousness, unless something messes up my schedual today mine is starting today!

the BL is hgher output and cleaner
the SD sounds a bit more EQ'd, less output, tad of distortion more
-
reminds me of my design a bit:

that paintjob is the cats pajamas

Take for example the Ibanez RG body from guitarbuild.com:
http://www.guitarbuild.com/modules/mydownl...ewcat.php?cid=5
this file is way tooooo big
its probably too big because its a thousand feet long
and any print shop can do it. just convert the cad file to a PDF file and get them to print it to blank poster size paper
