  1. I think if you go on the forum at Gibson.com you can post a question with the number and they will let you know. I have been on there before when someone had a question about a serial # and one of the Customer Service people told them about it. Not sure about the other ones though.

  2. Well, my mom lost her job so it loks like I have to sell one of my guitars. This is a '99 Gibson Les Paul Double Cutaway Standard Lite with the Trans Blue finish. It has a chambered mahogany body with a maple top, 24 fret mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard and the trapezoid inlays. I added the EMG ZW setup to it and it sounds amazing. It has a nice sound with the chambered body and is really lite as well.

It does have a couple of dings on the back as well as some pick scratches on the front. There is also some kind of discoloration on the back that is difficult to see unless in the right light. The other thing is that the switch cuts out sometimes when you switch between pickups. I had been meaning to get a new switch but never got around to it. All of these were there when I bought it. I buy all of my guitars used because I just can never afford brand new ones.

This will come in the brown Gibson case with combination latch. I think I also have te original box as well. I had some pics on the photo host system that was set up for us but I can't login so I will e-mail you pics if you are interested.

I would like to get $900 for it but am open to reasonable offers. I would prefer to ship in the US and it would be $35 for UPS Ground insured. I could probably ship to Canada for about the same price but not sure because I never have before. Also I will include the original pickups (492R and '57T) with the original pots and the extra pots from the EMG ZW set for an extra $50 if interested. Thanks...

    Jim

PS... Here is a pic from the Gibson website. Mine is trans blue.

  3. It's kind of a tough thing, because there are so many "copies" out there. Without the serial number I don't know if there are any other ways to tell if it is genuine or not. It just brings to mind "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but welcome to the forum and I'm sure someone in here can help you out. :D

  4. This is pinned in the off topics section but thought I would post it here so you know about it. :D

Here Brian, I set up a Free Picture Hosting service for ProjectGuitar members. Just click the link and bookmark.

    PhotoHost

Anyone can build a whole site if you like.

Just sign up for an account, it's free.

But, please, if you build a whole website. Please dont use any dirty pics ( nudity ) I have 3500 customers I service with my two servers and FCC frowns on crap like that.

I'm providing this service free only to Projectguitar.com members..

    Enjoy everyone

  5. "One" has a pretty nice little tapping riff by Kirk. I can't remember exactly how it goes, but I think you start with your fret hand on 12 and 15 on the bottom E string. Then you tap onto 19, then lift off from 15 to 12. I think it does that 8 times and then you tap on 20 8 times and then repeat the same thing on the B string. I don't know the rest but Wes would probaly know for sure. I'm just a newbie as well with the whole tapping thing.

  6. Never tried the Armstrongs, but the Fender DH1 humbuckers that came in my Floyd Rose Strat were real nice. With the 5 way switch I was able to get a nice variety with both clean and distorted. I'm just not sure if you can purchase them seperately... :D

  7. I think thats because of the cost in producing verse's the market

Yeah, I thought of that, but I don't think that's the case, because there are plenty of cheap semi-hollow ES335 type guitars, which are harder to produce than a chambered solid guitar. And even in the higher end market, you don't see that many. The thinline Tele is really the only major one around.

Maybe the market is driven more by looks than sound? Or it could be because guitarists are so conservative about body styled.

I've got a '99 Gibson Les Paul Double Cutaway and it has a chambered body. I am pretty sure that all of the DC models have chambered bodies. I love it because it sounds great, is a lot lighter than a regular Les Paul body and the DC shape gives you more fret access.

  8. Here's my ESP KH2 and my new Line 6 Spider 2 1x12 amp. I like to refer to this as my corner studio. Seriously though, between the KH2, my Les Paul DC and that 75 watt amp it's all I really need for right now. Maybe if I ever actually get good I'll get more stuff. :D
