emg actives do this as well...it's a wiring harness
And EMG is just using Molex 3 and 4 pin connectors, which any of us can buy and use. Mouser carries them, or you can get them on eBay.

would you only do trades for other pickups?
or other parts?
I might consider other parts, but I'm really into pickups right now. I've got a set of EMG's I can throw in, but I was hoping for something a little different.
So Jo, what's your schedule now that the weather had somewhat cleared up? Give me a call
Mike
Will do Mike. It's gotta be soon, as Soccer season kicks off on the 17th and doesn't end for a while.

I dont understand what mitred binding is? But the shape and colour are intentional.
A 90 degree meeting of two pieces with a 45 degree cut on each piece.

Like new Dimarzio Norton (DP160) currently installed in my Prestige 1550. Interested in trades for other humbuckers, or willing to sell. While I'm usually an EMG fan (81/85/89/60 and S), I'm looking for interesting passive options for this guitar. Don't be afraid to make offers, either.

Matt, what generation is the Line 6 amp: I, II, or III?
Thanks

Ah, cable voodoo. The difference between good cables and bad cables is almost always obvious in quality of construction, materials used, and overall performance. However, there's a lot of snake oil out there when it comes to cables, especially in the high end audio/home theater market, where guys will spend thousands on a 3meter interconnect. However, there was a double blind study done a while back in one of the hi-fi mags that tested expensive speaker interconnects against surplus extension cords. And no one could tell the difference in the double blind test! Monster is one of the worst companies when it comes to cable marketing voodoo for the mass market, but they are definitely not the most brazen.
Buy a decent cable, and you'll be OK. You don't need oxygen free, big wires, or any of that crap. What is important is shielding and quality of construction, especially at the ends. And the little extra features like the securing spring in the planet waves cables are nice, but not necessary.
Edited to add that the guitarnuts link from BigG1986 explains it perfectly.

It IS the 'Players Corner'?
Sounds like someone woke up on the wrong side of table saw?
Being on the wrong side of the table saw is always bad news...
Ezro, it doesn't matter what they say. If you know enough about Ibanez guitars, you can easily spot the counterfeits, because they always screw something up. Like those fake Jems. I saw one with a Team J-Craft sticker on the back, but it was the wrong color and not done well enough to be factory. Also, the gold trem arm gives them away, because Ibanez doesn't make them in that color. Or the Ibanez engraving on the trem baseplate, or the wrong type of output jack... The list goes on and on.
For the real Ibanez production guitars, there is nothing wrong with the Korean models except paying too much for them, but I feel that way about everything. I see RG470DX's go for a lot less than $400 on the bay. If you are patient, you'll find one at a decent price. I see RG320DXQM's (quilted maple tops) got for around $250 all the time, and that's a great deal.

I'm surprised at how many people like (though it's also been clear that they don't "LOOooove") the Metal Zone. It's known as being a surefire recipe to destroy tone.
I sold mine last night. But, I don't think it kills tone. You have to really spend some time with it to get a sound that works for you because it's so tweekable. I'm going to take the money and buy more packs for my Pod XT pro.

i have an 81/s/s in one guitar...they are awesome single coils...very snappy,i prefer them over the sa as the sa is a bit less snappy
+1 on the S over the SA. I also have an SLV from the Lukather set that I picked up, and it sounds good, but I lucked out in getting it without buying the set.

too bad I cut that hole in it cause with a different peice of wood there I will have too use a solid finish.
You can fill the hole and hide it with a nice veneer.
Paul Stanley broken mirror.

PG suffered a big loss, I too considered loverkraft "Mr.Electronics"
Yep. I always felt that the electronics threads were well taken care of with him around.
-
Man, I don't know how I managed to miss this thread. My prayers and condolences to Lovekraft's family and friends. We've lost too many good members.

That Jem 555 is nothing more than a dressed up RG320, and yes that's way too much for that thing even if it was in pristine condition. There's a Jem 7DBK (the black textured one) at a pawn shop near me for $700 US, and while it's not mint and does have some finish lifting, it's a better class of guitar than that one. If you want a good Ibanez, find yourself a good used RG570 for a couple hundred (I've never paid more than $300 for one). If you want a Jem, I'd save up and get a real one.

Congratulations Sexybeast! Having kids is awesome.
Congratulations! Great looking kids!I think all hospitals use the same baby blankets...
My wife and I had our last two at home (I delivered), and the supplies we purchased included those same blankets as well!

"snap On" Pickups
in Electronics Chat
Posted · Edited by GodBlessTexas
I stopped by Fry's today and picked up everything I need to do this. The total cost for 10 male connectors, 10 female connectors, and 50 wire inserts for the female adapters was around $5.50 before tax, not counting the heat shrink to cover the wire to pin connections, which I already had. If I get a chance to get to it this weekend (BUSY!), I'll take some pics and make a writeup.
BTW, this is a similar method to the EMG setups, but it's not exactly the same, as they were out of stock of the flat connectors that EMG uses. I'll have to order some from Mouser.
