dont worry, it turned out good. what happend was i was affraid my fretboard slid during gluing but thankfully it ended up straight. i just want to see an alternative if it did in fact go crooked, thanks
-
hypothetically, what if i glued a blank fretboard on a neck, then flush trimmed the fretboard to the slant of the neck? what would i use to get perfect straight fret slots?
-
any sound clips? im dying to know what it sounds like!
-
why buy a book when i have atleast 100 very knowledgable luthiers on here? i appreciate your time and effort, thanks
-
they will sell you just the body for like half price, i asked about a warlock neck and they said they would give me the neck template for $25
-
oh right they probably use those truss rods that are incased in a square shaft
-
hmmm makes...sense! haha how do they get the rod to stay in?

Hi, my friend has a really nice strat with a maple neck. I know NOTHING about Fender, and I was wondering how they made the necks that are all one piece (looks as though theres no fretboard but just frets on the neck). Do they just simply put a veneer over top or do they take the neck blank to a table saw, rout for the truss rod then glue it back on?
Thanks

the picture doesnt show

that looks awesome, maybe i should bevel ALL of my mockingbird
i really love that design. Try being covered in saw dust while walking around school, you get some weird looks haha
-
if the blade did in fact break, the wheel would continue spinning while the blade remains motionless inside the compressing cut slot of the wood. its happend to me at school, so hopefully im right and never got lucky :O
ANYWAYS looks like it will be a very nice piece of workd

what did you do do mark the slots? you didnt do fret to fret did you? if so you have a chance of being around 1/4" off by the 12th fret, says stewmac.
-
thats pretty cool, i see those things are like 6-8 watts? now thats not weak when it comes to tube amps is it? or did i just mis-read?
i'll keep you in mind

so, what materials/cost is expected to finish this?? thanks, i get 6 shop classes next semester and need a project so yeah haha
-
that tele doesnt look like crap, me like, good luck
-
actually i dont haha i just remember when i first came on this forum, he was in progress with his first imapler and was looking for a neck then all of a sudden there were two imaplers
-
did matt use a BC Rich neck or did he make his?
-
haha i put it in and am filling the small gaps that were left, it actually looks quite nice and when i stain it red along with the top of the guitar, i think it will look like a nice mistake
-
new cheap china BC Rich generally have bolt ons aside from the NJ Classics
Buy a bronze series warlock (the one with tribal graphics) they go for pretty cheap and you will have your neck along with some spare parts

Hey, i had to correct a mistake i made in my trem cavity and i went a little to deep allowing less then an inch for my pickup routs (not routed yet). instead of making a terrible mess with miss matched wood + filler, i came up with an idea of putting nice figured maple inside which is about 1/4" thick. with this, it allows you to have more room for pickup depth and allows you to have a visually appealling trem rout for those who arent fond of covering it up. is this a good idea or will it just make a mess?
yes, i know, im a knob for routing to deep
-
wow awesome idea. looks great.
so did you just hollow out the two pieces and stick the little sound slots on the top and side? and that made it like an acoustic? how loud is it?
-
wow, what id give for a mesa...i got the money n' all since im a part time worker still in high school with no car ahah...all in all how does your mesa sound? im quite curious
-
sorry to hear that dude
