  1. LK, I just got the upgrade kit for the ACME FF 2000 ! It includes the DEDHRS ver 7.081. Installed it on my laptop and absolutely SCREAMS on dial-up!! Thought you would want to know.

I forgot to say, get the dumasPROelim upgrade, while you are at it. Makes the system run much faster but does NOT support Windows Open. Tried it and they just fell shut again.

    Dude, no more caffeine. Please.

    :D

  2. We played the Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts today.

I don't know if it was stage fright or what, but I was almost dreading this deal. We got a 40 minute slot with 20 minutes to get on and 20 to get off (thank goodness they provide the PA), but last year was a nightmare. The sound guys knocked Susan's keyboard module in the pond so she played without her good sounds, they went way over in sound check, blah blah blah. They ended up cutting us off about 2/3 through our set. We were smoked.

Today, we unloaded and got ready for our 20 minute setup and sound check while this acoustic act went way over time. Then they proceeded to take 10 minutes to break down (acoustics) and talk to everyone around, including us while we were trying to set up around them.

The acoustic guy who wasn't leaving says, "Hey, who's the guitar player?" So I turned and said, "Uh, me and that guy." He held out a brand new Keeley Compressor and said, "Ever seen one of these?"

    I said, "Uh, yeah."

He went on for who knows how long about how they're hand wired and built by a guy right here in Oklahoma and this and that and yadayadayada.

I said, "Yeah, he lives a couple miles fom me."

So he shut up and went away. Finally.

Then after dodging sound guys, finding places to plug in the amps, pedalboards, keyboards, et al. we finally got started. Ten minutes late. While the sound guy was finding more mikes for the drums.

Anyway, long story short, the set went almost without a hitch and we drew a big crowd and we even got to finish our set this time.

The down side: a) I hate playing just one short set. By the time we're done I'm just getting warmed up. 2) I really felt sorry for that acoustic act that followed us, because when we finished, everyone left.

    But hey, I got a free T-shirt.

  3. Yeah. Makes you want to drive in Edmond traffic. :D

But hey, now you can get those biscuits frozen. Not as good nuked as fresh, but better than nothing. (Handy tip: I take them apart and put them in the toaster oven for 6-8 minutes. Everything gets nice and brown and not at all soggy.)

    Braum's, Vern.

  4. Looks good, but I would never use clothes dye, I rather spend a bit more and get the Stew Mac ones, I know some of them work fine, but Stews did such a great job on my guitra, from the get go, that I'm sold on them.

Yeah, I'm using TransTint. Easy to use, and a little goes a long way. It was $16.99 for a 2 ounce bottle, but that's gonna be enough to do a boatload of guitars.

  5. This thing is coming right along. I put on another coat of amber dye, then when it was good and dry I pulled the tape off the binding. I was really expecting the worst, but there were only a few spots where the brown and amber had seeped through.

I scraped and sanded the binding to start to round over the edge and show the lighter color outline, then I masked it again and dyed the sides and back with the same mix as the dark color on the top.

There's still plenty of sanding left to do before I can even think about doing the clear, but I'm pretty jazzed about the results so far.

  6. Ok, after sanding back to 320 I put on a coat of Honey Amber TransTint. Actually it was more like 3 or 4 coats because I started off way too light. Anyway, I took this pic just a few minutes ago while it was still wet.

It's already started to lighten up a bit, so we're keeping our fingers crossed.

  7. Thanks guys i tried all of them! an i have all of em as well!

Is there a way to edit posts i can put them up as links?? Would that be better as this topic seems to be more about the size of the pics rather than what the picture is showing??

If you need help resizing your pics to fit the forum's rules, don't hesitate to ask. I'm sure someone here would be glad to help.

Now, back to building guitars. :D

  8. Yes the traveller is MDF at the mo and will continue to be!  It will have oak inserts like a brian may guitar. Planning to be finished soon hopefully! Oh and btw... the neck is gunna be held on by one bolt and 2 screws, just not put the screws in yet!

And about pictures, never saw that in the rulz! Any way i can post bigger if you like as these are half size already, and i can tell how big there gunna be!

And i for got to post a pic of the traveller lookin a bit different!

    Traveller open pic............

If you could please make your pics smaller it would greatly reduce the number of grumpy guitar builders around here.

    Thanks. :D

  9. I don't have the tools yet to do a scratchbuild. Derek (bigdguitars) was building a bunch of teles and had one he didn't want, so I bought it from him.

The rest of the parts I'm getting mostly from ebay sellers I've dealt with before.

I got the water/alcohol soluble aniline dyes from the local Woodcraft store. The final finish will be Deft rattlecan lacquer.

A lot of this is a first time for me, so we'll see what happens. :D

    About halfway through the sandback.

    Plenty of sanding left. :D
