I love it.
Gonna have to try me one of them deals someday.
Now put it back in the GOTM.

I decided to do an "In Progress" thread for this thing.
Here's the goal:
I'm starting with one of BigD's castoff bodies, a Mighty Mite neck, and a boatload of ebay parts. I've got the bridge and string ferrules, and GFS pups and MM tuners are on the way.
Progress pics:
I have these on a webpage that I'll be updating as I go.
Wish me luck ...

Drop the toast, add a half dozen eggs and a loaf of Velveeta, and you're in Atkins Heaven, baby!

What color is the lint? I need some burgandy lint to match the crap in my ashtray. There might be a lucrative market out there for "tinted lint". WHAT A COOL NAME FOR A ROCK BAND!!!!!!!!!!!! Tinted Lint!!! English, I'm sure! Punk, shred, metal all theway!!@!! Copyright is in the works!
Um, whoops. Musta ate the lint with the Mentos.

Ooh, White Falcon.
I've always liked the traditional bar myself.

Yeah, I got the bridge for my Tele project for $1.04 (+$6.19 shipping). Looks to be the same one sold elsewhere for up to $39.99.On the other hand, to contradict what I just said, my current project is to build the cheapest guitar I can. Every bit for it comes from $1 ebay auctions (see my post in the auction supplies section on fishing for cheap parts). The parts I get actually drive the design. It can be done that way, but it's more of a challenge. Thanks for the tip.

I'd like to know more about the nylon string Strat here.

PS:
I am not a real drummer. I'm a guitarist for like 10 years already
I used a nickname involving drummers just to show the world that I am not very smart.
Well, that oughta do it.

If you use something like an Mbox or other USB or FireWire input, bypassing the soundcard, will you have the same latency issues?
I'm still stuck in the days of analog tape.

I have to say I know the GTOM is buried in the Announcement and Test are, but .........
I don't go there very often.
So it happened a few times that I found out about the voting, when it was closed already again.
Guess, what I'm trying to say is......I wouldn't mind if the GTOM got a more visual place in this board.
Say...give it it's own header in the same area as the Announcement and Test area.......
I just click "View New Posts" so I don't miss anything.

Can anyone help me match this pickupin CHROME?
http://www.guitarfetish.com/Memphis_GD_A.jpg
I have one already --it's for the Bridge position and it's CHROME. The guy at GFS tells me he doesn't carry this model in Chrome anymore (and the gold has been discontinued too), says it's too expensive for him to make now. I'd like to match mine with a neck model if possible...
I've seen similar pickups elsewhere--maybe someone in PG has one they don't need?
It's a great sounding pickup, really gets that rickenbacker jangle down...
thanks!
Artec Makes them, but I have no idea who sells them besides Guitar Fetish.
Maybe email Artec?

GregP: There was a thread a few months ago of how slow PG was getting, and how come it was going down all the time. Even if we all have DSL, it would still take time to load all the pics. At least that's what i think, unless i'm the only one experiencing it and everyone who did complain about PG being slow doesn't have this problem anymore.
Jamie
everyone hosts there pictures externally so that wouldn't affect PG bandwidth.
how many times does it have to be written in plain english before the wannabee intellectuals get it?
load times for threads get slower when more images are posted...end of story...capishe?i don't care if another site IS hosting the pic...pg thread load times are still affected.
anyway...have all the fun you want looking silly...we have been over this same thing enough that if you don't get it,you never will.
as always...if you don't like the rules,go play on stereokiller.com or something
and by the way...it is "their"
i would love for you to talk to me like that to my face.
i have to delete your hissy fit.it looks like you broke some rules after all,now didn't you?
but don't worry.i copied it in all it's glory for leisurely perusal in the mod section.i assure you we will all get a big laugh about it

Suggestion:
You might want to put something between the springs and pickups, or at least something to damp the vibration of the springs. Don't know for sure, but I'd be afraid of all kinds of mysterious and vexing noises coming from that cavity.
From www.vai.com:
"The padding on the back is stuffed with tissue paper to cut down the noise of the springs and the vibrations in the back cavity that inevitably flow through the body and create a lot of noise that is picked up through the pickups. The tissue cuts this noise down tremendously and this tightens up the sound considerably."

Cheap Trick.. is that a band? im guessing yes.. they any good.. cuz if theyre not, then you guys just dissed me...
DEAR GOD IN HEAVEN!!! BAN THAT BOY FOR LIFE!!!
Cheap Trick was one of the all-time greatest bands of the '70s and '80s. Yeah, they're known for cheesy stuff like "I Want You to Want Me" and selling out the Budokan in Tokyo every time they go over there. But Rick Nielsen and crew put out some mighty music back in the day.
Dammit, now I've got to listen to "Mighty Wings" or I'll never get to sleep tonight.
I'm turning 26 in two months. I never thought I'd sound old because I knew who Cheap Trick was. Of course, I remember watching "Top Gun" in the theater when it came out and the fact that Cheap Trick was on the soundtrack.
BTW, I love the finish on the guitar. When we say it looks either very Cheap Trick or Rick Nielsen, that's a compliment, man
"Old."
I was 26 when Top Gun came out.

Just did the first coat of dye, a reddish brown that I'll sand back.
The mahogany back is going to be that color.
So far, so good.
