Johnny Ramone of course used a Mosrite...you can also check out Eastwood guitars, check out the Sidejacks on this page --your friend can buy FIVE guitars, then he'll have plenty to smash up on stage...
I was gonna say Teisco, but then I saw the Eastwood site. Cool.
My buddy (the one with all the guitars) has a green Teisco like that Del Ray.

Does Bruce Willis have a brother?

Mosrite Ventures model.

If I remember right (and I might not), Jaco's neck* used to be fretted, but he had the frets removed and the board epoxied. I think the Fender tribute model reflects this mod.
As for the pickguard, just take it off and have a look.
*Jaco's bass neck.

The middle pickup is good for classic Strat sounds - if you don't use them, you probably don't need it, but positions 2 and 4 on a good Strat are fairly unique signature tones that you just don't get from a Tele or an SG.
Most of SRV's Pride & Joy is on the middle pickup. Clapton uses it on Sweet Home Chicago on the Sessions for Robert J CD/DVD, too.
Position 1, 2, 4 & 5 are good, but don't discount the middle by itself. Nice.

It's subtle. You have to listen.

No, I've never used one. I was going by the Carvins I've played and the catalog pictures for the last 20 years, give or take.
-
Carvin's neck-through is the same width from the 24th fret to the end of the body.
Look at the DC400W and you'll see what I mean.

Looks like there's a concensus from the "old fart" community.
A freebie for the big shot gets you points all around. Might just get you some paying referrals.
So do it gratis, and you'll have gravitas for later.

The bridge is a Kahler.

Doing a freebie for the wheel makes your dad look good, too.
Remind him often.

Factory fret job too (but that's a whole 'nuther story).
Yeah, I'd have thought you'd be more worried about the fret job than the inlays.

I have a bunch of Planet Waves polypropylene straps(non-locking); they go up to 59.5". I get them from Larsen Music (a BMMG company) for about $5.

it's about reading comprehension, really.you can read all the books you wish by all the greatest minds in the world and still misunderstand them, simply because your mind does not have the innate grasp the writer does of the principles involved.
too often you will see this scenario...a person who wishes to be a great intellect, yet fails to understand his(her) own mental strengths and weaknesses.
a wise person will always defer to another's knowledge in his(her) own area of strength, when that wise person is in an area of weakness.
but maybe masterminds is still in the process of learning about his(her) areas of strength and weakness.
anyway...sorry for all the flowery wording.i am sure there is an easier way to say what i just wrote.
Uh, like "give em a rope and they think they're a cowboy"?

IMO, Steve Vai has the best wah technique I've ever heard. He uses it to add a bit of flavor to the notes, rather than just as an effect. You have to listen, though.

I use the Visual Sound 1 Spot. It only takes up one outlet space, has a 10 ft cord. You can get daisy chains and adapter harnesses to fit just about anything you can think of.
Example: I run a MXR DynaComp, Rocktron* Austin Gold, Bixonic Expandora (original), Rocktron* Deep Blue chorus, Rocktron* Hush Pedal, Ernie Ball VPjr volume pedal, and Korg DT7 tuner. All but the volume pedal are powered by the 1 Spot, and I plan to add a couple more pedals soon.
*Yeah, I got a deal on some Rocktron stuff.

I came across this at Hobby Lobby a while back. Haven't tried it yet, but it's cheap enough. And you can download graphics. Probably really small graphics. But graphics, none the less.

I'm not so sure that "I can't be bothered" is the right way to start a question around here.
