Regards, Michael
  2. I'm not up with the jargon, what do you mean by "hot side"?
  3. Hi, I have an old Dimarzio P bass style pickup in one of my basses, that I haven't used for years. I tried to wire it, but I can't get it to work. Here are some details: Top pickup (E & A strings) ------------------------------ green (tone pot) white (joined to brown wire coming from bottom D & G pickup) Bottom pickup (D & G strings) ---------------------------------- brown (joined to white wire coming from top E & A pickup) yellow (volume) Capaciter ----------- 0.05+ - 10% N 100V I tried P bass pickup (not the active one) diagram at the Dimarzio web site but it didn't work. Does anyone know how I can wire this thing? Regards, Michael
  4. Yes, it's just a hair. So, which side of the pocket should I shave, the left, the right or a bit of both? Regards, Michael
  5. Hi, I'm making a fretless jazz bass. I have the body and the neck. The neck has frets in it, which I'll remove and so on, but the width at the end of it is slightly larger than the neck pocket on the body. What's the best way to make the fit? Shave the body or the neck (since it will be fretless this should be too bad I suppose)? Also, please add any comments on the best way to do the job so I have a reference point. Regards, Michael
  6. That's great, thanks for the warning and the link. Regards, Michael
  7. Hi, A local timber yard here (Australia) has some Silver Ash, Queensland Silver Ash . Does anyone know if this timber is suitable for building a bass body? What are the tonal properties of the wood? Regards, Michael
  8. Hi, There are some big raps on Melvyn Hiscock's book. I'm just wondering if this is the one to get for making a bass or are there better books for that? Apparently, the Hiscock book also includes a bass. Regards, Michael
  9. Hi, I'm looking at building a Fender Jazz Bass. I converted a fretted neck to a fretless a few years ago, which is currently on a crap P bass style body (ply wood), and I would like to make a '62 Jazz Bass body or just a standard Jazz Bass body. Does anyone know where I can get a template for the body? Regards, Michael
